"It's a regular sort of earthquake that we expect somewhere in Southern California," Jones told KTLA. "Magnitude 5.3 is a size that happens on average about once a year in Southern California."

The temblor hit beneath the Pacific Ocean about 12:29 p.m., at a depth of about 10 miles beneath the surface, USGS reported. It was centered about 41 miles southwest of Ventura and 85 miles west of Los Angeles.

NIKK-Horrible in Math so I got help. LOL

Stated the quacke was 10 miles depth...16km

Thinking that's deep..but 25 days ago there was one 19km.

Stay with me..if we wonder about the other day being 16km then we would have to question the quake 25 days ago....did we take out something then too?

To re-re-purpose a cliche, sometimes an earthquake is just an earthquake. It would take a massive amount of explosives to simulate the energy of an earthquake, but nothing can simulate the depth.

I am interested in all those very shallow earthquakes at Isla Vista, the location of the UC Santa Barbara dorms and frats. Maybe their parties are getting out of hand!
