I haven't encounter a situation wherein an actual sundial holds the same meaning but I also haven't had cause to research it.

I was replying with the info she wrote about which mentioned the Lord Mayor of London who has a rather more intertwined office than just a small town mayor who makes sure the water system is working.
The current Lord Mayor is Sadiq Khan.
If he ever becomes a Q issue as “SK” I’ll claim credit then! :-D
