RoosterRedux started me on this examination of the white circle in the middle of Pedo Island -- originally believed to hold a flagpole, which served as the
"gnomon" (shadow-caster) for a sundial.
My new interpretation is much more pagan and ritualistic:
Since I need to bug out for a "Crawfish Dinner", I leave determination of how I came to the conclusions at left-- as an exercise for "the interested students"... '-)

RoosterRedux started me on this examination of the white circle in the middle of Pedo Island -- originally believed to hold a flagpole, which served as the "gnomon" (shadow-caster) for a sundial. One thing you may be missing: A sundial does not have a vertical pointer in the center. It is a sloped pointer, and the slope is in direct relation to the latitude of where the sundial is to be used.
Because of that angle, the shadow does not follow the same arc that a vertical pole would.
Hope you enjoyed your Crawfish dinner!
