I’ve done further research and found it actually comes from the book “’’White Squall - The Last Voyage of Albatross’’ by Richard Langford and Chuck Giel. Geil is one of the few survivors of the disaster. . . and Langford was his English Professor. The Bell was the bell from the Albatross, not the Eye of the Sea, an educational training tall ship Brigantine.
