(CNN) — Donald Trump was so overjoyed about the high ratings for the premier episode of ABC's reboot of "Roseanne" that he praised the show and its star, Roseanne Barr, twice in the 48 hours after it aired.
First, on Wednesday, he called Barr, who was a vocal Trump supporter in 2016, to share his congratulations. And then, at a rally in Ohio Thursday, Trump again paused to praise the show, telling the audience its high ratings were because the show was "about us." (He did not attribute that success to the anti-Trump character who is also featured prominently.)
The lovefest between Barr and Trump should surprise no one. After all, Trump and Barr have much in common when it comes to spewing bigotry and intolerance. What is surprising is the apparent blind eye turned by the people who have brought us this "rebooted" Roseanne -- a decision that ABC may regret.

To begin: Barr has repeatedly shared inflammatory views about Muslims. One of her retweets equated Islam with Nazism, saying both want "world domination" and the "destruction of all Jews," according to an account last year in the Daily Beast. (Some of the tweets have since been deleted, but screengrabs can be found on several news sites.) Barr has also tweeted about what she calls "Islamic rape pedo culture," and retweeted memes that gin up fear of Muslims.
Like Trump, Barr has also used Twitter to viciously go after those she perceives as enemies, even if the allegations aren't true. For example, Barr tweeted in 2016 that then-Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, who is Muslim and at the time was married to Anthony Weiner, was a "Jew hater," adding, "hillary clinton's handler huma weiner is a filthy nazi whore."

I’m gonna have to follow Roseanne on Twitter! Imagine, her saying that islamics want world domination and destruction of the Jews! How could she be so untruthful/s?!

Roseanne had more viewers on one night than all of FNN had in a two weeks.
As opposed to his predecessor "spewing" Marxism and Islamism, based on everything.
We watched Roseanne, and we thought it was great. Mark was down to earth (not over the top, like we thought it would be) and the banter was realistic..

Reborn to fail, it was a Trump hate feast. Debra Messing is a virulent hateful Progressive of the first order. My bet is that they tone it down. Hard to get ratings when half the country choose not to be insulted and will have nothing to do with the show.

Well than you missed the part of the show where Roseanne asked the kid point blank if he thought of himself as a girl or Boy. He said a Boy, one that likes flashy colored clothes or something to that effect. If the show lasts a number of years maybe the writers of the show will identify the character as gay (it’s Hollywood so a good bet) but as of episode one he is not a transexual.
The Left will attack Roseanne advertisers mercilessly until on by one they pull sponsorship of the show.
The Right will shrug their shoulders, "What can we do?"
The show was hilarious — vintage Roseanne and even better. Best line in the show was when Roseanne said a dinner table prayer and added “And thank you God, for making American great again!”
Upcoming episodes will see a decline in viewers. That's a given for almost every series. Of course, the Left will trumpet this as vindication that America is turning away from hate-filled Roseanne Barr and the hate-filled President she supports.
In reality America's viewing habits have changed. Many tuned in for curiosity and won't be back. Others won't be back because they truly disagree with Roseanne's politics. Then there are many more who have developed binge-watching habits and will wait until several episodes are available On-Demand and watch them all at once. This is how my wife and I prefer to watch TV.
(And yeah, it's probably best to refer to Roseanne as Roseanne instead of Rosie for obvious reasons.)
I have not set my clock to tv watching since the 80s. Nothing is that important.
I watch when I want to.
I remember my grandparents tracing out their evening in the tv schedule.
Not my life... and I am their age.
I think they are using Roseann as bait to get viewers they would never get if the show was about a “transgender” child and other leftist slop.
Wouldn’t surprise me if her character ends up in a loony bin.

Well, so far he’s not a transsexual. The character at one point was directly asked about it, and said he’s a boy - he just likes bright colors.
