The NRA saw a major spike in donations following the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
The shooting took place in February and left 17 people dead. That same month, NRA donations tripled from the month before. Federal Election Commission filings say the NRA received just under $248,000 in January. It received more than $779,000 in February.
The NRA has faced intense scrutiny since the shooting. It's not entirely clear if the donations are part of its supporters' response to that or part of a larger trend. History shows consumers display increased interest in guns and gun sales increase after mass shootings.

its not just donations to the NRA that have been spiking. Memberships have been spiking too. I joined two weeks ago in response to the Socialist gun grabbers.
I let my membership lapse about 10 years ago. I rejoined right after the Parkland shooting.

I have been a one year member of the NRA for several years, renewing on a annual basis. This year, for the first time ever, I have increased the length of my membership far beyond only a single year. If the NRA is “fighting” for my right to keep and bear arms, the least I can do is to provide some “support”. When the shooting starts, I will still have a weapon or two to join in.
I recently joined the NRA and bought another AR. In your face Hogg you smug pretentious prick.
I spent a weekend in Miami with my progressive sister, mother and aunt. After going nearly 14 years without buying any firearms I rejoined the NRA and bought a new rifle. I felt compelled.

I held off joining for years mostly due to my fear of being on a “list”. At this point I don’t care, a white middle age man who drives a 4x4 is already a target.
I renewed and got two sons and a friend to join.
I wasn’t lapsed, just up for renewal.
Well, I do have some 7.62x51 around, but then I already have something to fire it with, too. That’s why I was thinking AR-15.
