Washington (CNN)Ahead of the March for our Lives rally, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg said the media's biggest mistake while covering the school's shooting was "not giving black students a voice."
"My school is about 25 percent black, but the way we're covered doesn't reflect that." Hogg said during an Axios event Friday.
Hogg, one of the core members of the #NeverAgain Movement, hasn't shied away from acknowledging his privilege. In fact, "privilege" came up in many of the speeches at Saturday's march in Washington, D.C. While taking the stage again -- this time before hundreds of thousands -- Hogg and other students made sure to include victims of gun violence from across other communities.
'We share this stage'
"We recognize that Parkland received more attention because of its affluence," Jaclyn Corin, a survivor of the Parkland shooting, said during her speech. "But we share this stage today and forever with those communities who have always stared down the barrel of a gun." Corin brought Yolanda Renee King, Martin Luther King Jr.'s granddaughter, to the stage as her special surprise guest.

He knows the script. He reads it well enough.
While Hogg is touching on a lot of SJW subjects, I notice hes stayed away from abortion so far. It would be hard to justify the murder of kids...when youre rallying against the murder of kids.

He might be avoiding abortion, but isn’t is funny that Kamala had something to say about abortion.
“And we cannot tolerate a society and live in a country with any level of pride when our babies are being slaughtered.
Wait, what? You mean she WASN’T speaking about abortion?
Right. Sure.
They are trying to mask the reality that this "March for our Lives" movement is racist at its core.
There have been shootings of young minorities across this country for years. The death toll of 17 in Parkland was about the same casualty count for 3-4 weekends in Chicago, for example.
But suddenly these losers like Hogg and his media partners turn this into a national issue because 17 white kids were the victims?
Spare me the bullsh!t, people.
8 years in the Onamajugend. Hogg has come of age.
I didn't have time to get permission from my parents 70 years ago to not have a white baby, me.
I am what I am and I apologize to no one for who I am.
White privilege my ass.
The Negro kids at Parkland are not so cameraphiliac or maybe have a tad more sense than the Camera Hogg.
“””My school is about 25 percent black, but the way we’re covered doesn’t reflect that.”””
What on earth does that have to do with the tragedy? Wouldn’t that have looked great on the news - THIS SCHOOL HAS 25 PERCENT BLACK STUDENTS.....AND what?
BUt he’s not a kid is he?
They fought with muskets initially, then other firearms, and over the years they have included every race, color, and creed of American. Your first amendment freedoms exist because of them. You are privileged to not be living under a totalitarian regime because of them. Genocide was stopped in Europe because of them. Europe is free because of them. There is a South Korea instead of a single peninsula of misery like North Korea because of them. The list goes on and on.
Your classmates who tragically died and whose families were torn apart by this senseless violence included white children. Their ‘privilege’ to which you refer didn't protect them, and didn't help when the adults whose jobs it is to protect them failed them - over and over. The FBI, the police, the school officials, the politicians, all of whom had numerous opportunities to recognize that a mentally ill young man was a very real threat to them, ultimately failed them.
Of very high importance and relevance, the policies of the previous President of the United States, a man who by virtue of his skin color you would say does not have ‘privilege’, played a very significant role in the deaths of your classmates. For political and ideological reasons the school, law enforcement, and politicians suppressed crime reporting from your school (among others). This undoubtedly played a very important role in why all of the warning signs signaling this tragedy could and would happen were ignored.
Further, the perpetrator who killed your classmates was white. He was clearly mentally ill, an adopted kid who was apparently abandoned by his biological parents, and whose adoption father died when he was six, and adoption mother had died months before he killed your classmates. By the time he was in eighth grade he was sent to a school for children with emotional issues. He wanted to be 'normal' and attend a regular high school, and when accepted into your school the school administrators were well aware of his background. They expelled him from your school when he was 17. His ‘whiteness’ didn't save others or him from his mental illness, and the adults who were supposed to be paying attention again ignored a huge number of warning signs - including those written by him announcing his intentions.
So, if you really want to stop future tragedies in schools, why don't you and your fellow student activists call for a better system for dealing with mental health issues in schools? Suicide, clearly a mental health issue, is the second highest cause of death among high school age children, after accidental death, and is clearly also a mental health issue. If you want to really make a difference, be active against drinking and driving, be active against drugs like opioids that cause deaths by overdose, and be advocates for vigilance and help with mental health issues in schools.
Why is Hogg playing the victim card?
He wasn’t shot, he just had yellow stained pants.
The media are being coached by the same people who created and wrote the speeches for this “student led” series of circus performances. They are told to make this about cute white kids, to package the far-left big-government authoritarian movement of #BlackThugsMatter as a mainstream, culturally-white movement.
They miss the big point. Normal Americans, the ones they are trying to reach with this latest twist on a twisted movement, don’t care about race. We reject all of these efforts because they are about disarming us so we can be controlled, not because of the skin tone of the agitators who are featured on CNN.
