LONDON (AP) In Paris, the Eiffel Tower went dark. In London, a kaleidoscope of famous sites switched off their lights Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, the London Eye.
~~SNIP~~
It lasted for just an hour and its power is purely symbolic. But in countries around the world, at 8:30 p.m., people were switching off their lights for Earth Hour, a global call for international unity on the importance of addressing climate change.

8:30PM last Night?
I was hoisting a few, eating pizza and listening to my little sister’s band (electric guitars and amps! ) LOL!
Aw, I blew it. It's apparently tonight! I can hardly wait to ignore it all over again.
OK...maybe some friends of mine are playing tonight, and i can hoist a few more, eat some more pizza, and crank the Marshalls up to 11! :-)
Do it. It's for the planet.
Earth Hour 2018 will be on March 24, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm in participants’ time, in order to avoid coinciding with Catholic Holy Saturday which will fall on March 31.
Every light, inside and outside, of my house will be on at 8:30 tonight....ALL of em.

Thanks for the history tidbit.
Calif. has gone a longway......
Awesome - I hope that someday I can match that!
“I wonder how many idiots actually participate in this nonsense.”
I did. Only I postponed the 8:30 event time to 11:30pm and stayed dark until 7:00am, so more than did my part and got a good night sleep on top of it.
I’ve been on tesla road
It runs into mines Rd and goes in very remote country behind mt Hamilton
These days wild boars and mountain lions own it
I still have all my Christmas lights up, I’m gonna turn them on and leave them on ALL NIGHT LONG. Since there will be unused energy, I may as well use it up.
It is gorgeous country out there. All the ghost towns (Tesla, Carnegie) and factories (coal mines, brick works, pottery plant) are gone without a trace. You can still see traces of tailings piles, but not much. Hard to believe there were thriving towns with big industrial plants there not that long ago.
I got so I was really scared to drive on the highways in snow and freezing rain. Never been to Iddaho, woulda been nice.
The prediction was not as much as we seem to be ending up with at 10:00 CDT tonight, like about 3 more inches and was to be worse north of I80.
yep!
Didn’t they use to hold it on Lenin’s Birthday?
Liberal virtue-signaling.
Has no effect on the weather but it makes liberals feel good about themselves.
A scam as convincing as a medieval indulgence.
went dark?
really?
didn’t notice. Stopped noticing drama queen notions a long time ago.
Sometimes I think the entire world is turning into the long screech of the Daily Mail.
I propose that Bitcoin Mining Hour be held at the same time as Earth Hour, to take up the slack.
