The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds.
From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
Good luck with that and the weed killer.
I can't kill it....I've been trying for 3 years to get rid of it....It's invasive and pernicious..and dag gum tough to kill.....
My only counter attack...has been cutting the sprout ups....
I've tried Roundup...and that doesn't even work...........I hate it..!!
Not great, but not terrible weather here in Central Missouri this week.
Got Nanner home from the tractor doc on Friday. Everything that got worked on is working right. Started moving pond dirt to the sippy hole yesterday and blew a hydraulic hose. So... I cleaned up the shop enough to get Nanner inside and called it a day.
Spent most of today fiddling with it. There’s not enough space to fit the replacement hose into the space where the original hose came out, so I used a piece of old garden hose to mock up a re-routed replacement. I’ll get that made up tomorrow and be back in business in no time.
I was hoping to get a couple loads of horse poo today, but oh well...
Poor ole nanner, I kinda feel like that too. Happens when people and machines get older. LOL
I tripped and fell hard in the garden this afternoon and had to call Lady Bender on my cell phone to come out and help me getup. Nothing broke but I’ll bet I develop some black & blue areas...
Oh no. You need to be careful. So glad nothing was broken. Take it easy and get better soon.
Our crocuses are up and happy. Not for long tomorrow expect 8-14 inches of snow
Oh man. Will that hurt them, or are they hardy?
Think so as they have been snowed on in past year’s.
I’m in the process of getting one of the coolest birthday gifts ever! Hubby said he was taking the week off to fix some things around the house. He has completely reworked 2 of my garden beds :)
That’s terrific. Hubby decided to do some more work on the greenhouse floor, so still waiting on my new raised beds. He’ll get there sooner or later.
Whether its greenhouse or raised beds, we are blessed to have men who enable our garden addictions :)
LOL. So True.
Yes. They’re a bit invasive and get pretty leggy late in the season. I like the tubers best raw - sliced in a salad usually. I think they make a good substitute for water chestnuts.
