Washington, D.C. Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after President Trump fired his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and announced CIA Director Mike Pompeo as his replacement:
Secretary Tillersons firing sets a profoundly disturbing precedent in which standing up for our allies against Russian aggression is grounds for a humiliating dismissal. President Trumps actions show that every official in his Administration is at the mercy of his personal whims and his worship of Putin.
It is no wonder that the President has trouble attracting high-caliber people to his Administration when he undercuts and humiliates those he supposedly respects.
Whenever Tillersons successor goes into meetings with foreign leaders, his credibility will be diminished as someone who could be here today and gone tomorrow. Continuity in our diplomatic personnel and policies are vital for championing American security, values, and interests.
Tillersons successor must approach the grave threat of Russian foreign aggression with the seriousness and urgency that it demands. As Director Pompeo has stated, he has every expectation Russia will attack our democracy again. America must be ready.
She does. I'd say it was made of peas, but would be incorrect using the plural.
Trump does seem very much to change personnel according to the needs of the nation. He is an exemplary CEO and a brilliant exception to the rule-of-thumb that the most effective CEOs of large enterprises are psychopaths.
“Disturbing”
I think she was disturbed before this.
Pelosi is full of B.S.
Russia has zero, zip, zilch to do with Tillerson being replaced.
Every foreign capital KNOWS that the U.S. President makes U.S. foreign policy, NOT the Secretary of State. The only foreign policy the Secretary of State carries forward is as given to them by the President. There is no loss of “continuity” of foreign policy when the president is not changed.
I disagree with your statement “early stages of some type of dementia”. Those started about 10 years ago.
Tillerson’s talents and proclivities were necessary and useful for the emphases of the time Tillerson was in office. When the needs change this president changes personnel. He puts a new cam in the machine to cut the new pattern.
Anybody fired by Trump, or hired by trump, actually, is an illustration of Utter Disaster to the Democrats.
‘Zackly !
LOL. Probably smelled it on his breath. This is at least as good as the fake news that we are getting from the media WE could say “persons familiar with the situation” said..It could go viral in minutes.
If only. But Mueller has to be induced, somehow, some way, to wrap up first. Mueller is currently investigating Trump for firing Comey and—not the Onion—***thinking*** about firing Mueller. Honestly, I’m telling you the truth. If Trump fires Stealth Sessions while Mueller is still active, the upheaval would make the Saturday Night Massacre look tame.
He may be a leaker?.
sorosian sock puppet
Oh screw her what a ridiculous statement.
What a silly statement obviously all nations including Russia will respect Pompeo more.
Yes, plural would not apply in her case.
Now THAT is an interesting theory.
What Tillerson a known boozehound?
I’m 100% Trump has a no tolerance policy when it comes to such things.
She’s just preaching to her choir. Like in 2011 when the local congress-crawler Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md) supported the initial Soetero administration line that a video seen by a few hundred on You Tube caused the death and destruction in Benghazi. Nancy may still have enough viable brain cells wired in to her motherboard to know that the elevation of Top Spook to Top Diplomat indicates that the current administration is dead serious and committed to protecting our Nation and it’s interests globally. It is probably not going to be pretty and it will be violent.
How could Pelosi know why Tillerson was fired?
Didn’t Dems initially oppose Tillerson because he was an evil oil executive with ties to Russian oil interests?
