This is the kind of idiot who believes "you cant go too far to one side or the other or you wrap around to the other side" and "the place to be is in the middle between the two". Freedom is not a balancing act between two forms of authoritarian socialism. The recent flood of newbs there have not helped. Like those who believe similar things here, ignore them for now, you can educate them later.
No, it's a very straight line of Authority vs. Liberty—and only legitimate authority can exist in a free society.
Authority must always justify itself. Arbitrary authority—however it's wrapped ideologically—is always illegitimate, and anyone who tries to rationalize it fundamentally misunderstands what true Freedom is.
Once arbitrary law is imposed by one faction and tolerated by others—out of some pressing need, and all in the name of "order", or for the People, or for the children—it opens the floodgates to Tyranny, because in the future, another faction will similarly argue for such "shortcuts".
Such thinking is the slipperiest of slippery slopes, and it must always be rejected on general principle. Tyranny is never legitimate—whether it's rationalized by a sage philosopher, appealed for by a charismatic demagogue, or demanded by an angry mob...
When trying to educate newbs as you call them, I think the word Idiots is unhelpful. I was taught that very thing as gospel, in high school. I graduated in 1982. Yes I went to public school. That's where my parents sent me. It's not like I had a choice.
Calling people names for learning what they were taught is not helpful to the cause.
