Creature From the Black Lagoon meets mute woman at a secret space project in Baltimore run by a 5-star general. They bond over hard boiled egges. They also fall in love and mate in a bathtub. Meanwhile a Redneck tortures the Creature with an Alabama Cattle Prod. Even though the Creature is supposed to be vital for space program research, all the scientists and the 5-star general allow the Redneck to continue torturing the creature. Meanwhile the Russkies attempt to kill the Creature via a kind-hearted Commie spy in the project who won't go along with the murder plot.
Creature escapes and Redneck is enraged because his job is on the line as fingers start rotting from gangrene. Redneck tracks down Creature and mute woman at the docks and shoots both. Creature kills Redneck as latter exclaims, "You really are a god!" Creature recovers from wound instantly then hops into ocean with mute woman who also recovers from wound quickly. They should live together for ever after but one big problem. How does she breath underwater? Instant solution is she grew a pair of gills on her neck. And now they can live happily in the sea forever after.
p.s. One subplot teaches audience that if you reject the advances of a gay person that means you are probably a mean racist who won't allow people of color to eat at a lunch counter.
“Is there a Christian subplot?”
Yeh right out of the book of Enoch. And revelations. This is the kind of stuff that was going on preceding Noah’s Ark. If we are not in the end times we are close to it.
I saw the preview and just could not believe something so stupid looking was made into a movie. Cheap allegory of PC cliches, and of course won the Oscar.
Meanwhile, there were two decent movies I saw last year. Neither of them “conservative” but both well-made films about human-seeming people. The Florida Project, and Lady Bird (which is not about the Flotus in the sixties).
Megaforce. Yeah Baby! :-)

In Paul Zindel’s play does she put the dolphin in her bathtub and have sex with it?
Should have been released on the SYFY Channel. Writing is just as logical
Homosexuality is so passe. Bestiality is the new cause célèbre.
Wow, this sounds like it needs Tom Servo and Crow to help it along.
All the movies looked awful this year. I only saw one and it was dunkurk and it sucked bad. I didnt see 3 billboards but would have rather had that win. I read the synopsis and just seemed better.
Amazon? don’t need no stinking amazon! see it for free on a fire stick. (also amazon)
Saw it, mainly because I like Sally Hawkins. It was OK, but not what I would call the best movie of the year.
Thanks for saving me $11 plus $10 popcorn
The Shape Of Water* ($57 million)
Guillermo del Toro is the most overrated director working today, and the fact that he is still fighting the anti-communists during the Cold War… Man alive.
And hey, I love Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the subtext about the Creature’s attraction to Julia Adams is interesting and adds a lot to the movie, just like Kong’s attraction to Fay Wray does in that classic, but that doesn’t mean I want to watch them do it.
*FWIW, this is the film that won Best Picture.
I hate this emerging recurring theme of “rejecting gay mans advances” makes you a racist homophobe bigot.
I guarantee the first gay person who makes ‘advances’ on me will never try it again.
Is this a new John Waters movie?
Dont forget man-boy love. Barf.
I wonder just how far we are from "Ass". Hehehe. d;^)
Haven’t seen or read the play. In my post, I’m only quoting other accounts.
“... And there was a time in this country, a long time ago, when reading wasn’t just for fags and neither was writing. People wrote books and movies, movies that had stories so you cared whose ass it was and why it was farting, and I believe that time can come again!”
