That issue is one of a score or so. Not sure why it was singled out, other than perhaps for the broad propostion that the world runs on technology, so Nazis with technology skill were preserved for the benefit of string pullers, all with the knowledge and assistance of US government.
If the war was contrived, at least in part (allow Hitler to rise to power rather than nip it in the bud), it stands to reason the same people who benefit from starting it would benefit from winding it down.
The way I figure it, governments are a shadow of where the action is. I also figure most of the string pulling is indirect, in that "the systems" artifically limit solutions.
I think it has largely been hidden from the public how many Nazis were protected and used after the war. No one I know had ever heard of operation paperclip.
Just a few of the well known scientists are known. How many people knew or know that Nazi Intelligence Agents were saved and used?
I rather think that your statement here is profound:
“If the war was contrived, at least in part (allow Hitler to rise to power rather than nip it in the bud), it stands to reason the same people who benefit from starting it would benefit from winding it down.”
