It's a RRA AR-10 in .308. The scope is a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 PST.
I'm going out to the range this morning to bust the cherry on this one.
“Me too: bought an ex-police Canada-built Colt AR-15A3.”
Nice, I stopped by my local gun store yesterday and holy crap, I had to park a full city block away. They have an on-site range and the line was out the door for people waiting their turn at an open lane.
I picked up a Ruger Mini 14 tactical, in the stainless steel and chambered in 223/5.56.
I’ve been eyeballing that rifle for over a year, but balked at the $1,100 price tag...
Well, the hand-wringing and emotional caterwauling by the left as they attempt to further infringe on my gun rights has loosed the money from my wallet.
And trus t me brother, I had to wait my turn in line yesterday, but wait I did.
yea. The store I got mine at yesterday was extremely busy. If only democrats and their gun grabbing ways would realize they drive gun sales with their rhetoric.
I like the sound of that; I haven’t had a well-worn and comfortable gun in a long time.
Hey, are the multiple lasers part of an automatic targeting system?
Holly smokes. I notice RRA has gone up significantly since I bought my Predator HP maybe 2 years ago. RRA builds a kick-butt rifle.
RE mags. I picked up 5 20-round mags online from a manufacturer, Moses Mags, in Rock Hill SC. They were about $25 each. They made the RRA mags look flimsy in comparison. Never had a problem with them, fed nice, didn’t always drop out when empty...but they’re lightweight plastic. RRA actually temporarily picked this guy up as a supplier. In talking to RRA, don’t think they ever actually sold any of his...always listed as “backordered”. His website is gone now, online postings say he got way behind on FAL orders and closed shop leaving a lot of buyers hanging. There were rumors he died, rumors his parents had gone downhill, etc. Bottom line...you can’t get them anymore. It’s s shame because they are very nice mags...everyone spoke highly of them.
You don’t need concealed carry with that. One look at it and nobody will approach you.
Well what it does have is: it sends out a concealed rabbit that targets your target and points its nose at it; then you shoot.
Nice. Me, too, timing wise. Just picked up two Diamondback AR-15 5.56 mm last week. Their DB15CCB models. We’ll dress them up with rail covers (the rails are sharp!), red-dots, and forward grip with pop-out legs this week.
Cool. And I bet it makes coffee too. Ya, know when your are out hunting in the wilds, nothing like a hot cup.
Well there was a video of a guy firing an AR something or other and cooking bacon with the hot barrel.
Similar problem with arthritis in the big thumb joints. I gave up a Kimber Solo semi-auto for a revolver that never needs to have the slide moved to load or clear. Recommend a S&W M&P340. light weight J-frame .357 Magnum. Not much fun at the range but its a great carry piece.
Look for a Glock 42 .380 or a Sig Sauer P320SC Sub Compact 9mm. Both easy to conceal and you might find between 400-500 used. I like mine.
Cool. I mean hot!
“If a gun were a sofa itd be this rifle. Little felt recoil & it settles back on target with no help from me. That pistol grip nestles in my hand like a just-opened beer”
This sounds like you are discribing my SCAR=17.
Its all about the mathematics!
I don't own one, but have fired the XDs in .45 enough to say that the recoil experience is far more pleasant than one might think. I was given a complimentary test shoot with the first one that arrived at the LGS, and I was very surprised at how well it behaved. It isn't a creampuff, but even an old codger like myself had no trouble handling what it dishes out. Someone did a good job designing it.
If I was to go back to owning .45s, I'd buy a 1911A1 to look at, and an XDs to actually carry.
Excellent! I am awaiting the delivery of a HZ Bren 5.56 S1 carbine that I purchased 2 weeks ago on gunbroker. I was toying with a SCAR but the almost double cost and the review issues on the stock led me to the Bren, what has been referred to as the “poor man’s” SCAR.
MFO
I understand your point, but would suggest that two identical pistols would be a lot better. If you ever need even one in a high-stress situation you would be far better served with something very familiar. And, switching from one to another in the middle of an incident is adding an unnecessary complexity.
Nice piece, a shame it has to drown so young.
I notice the A-listers( must stand for *sshole?)
are going to wear orange buttons at the oscars
in support of gun control, I think I’ll start
wearing a .45 expended case in my lapel in memory
of all my drowned firearms.
