SAVANNAH, GA (Nexstar) Actor Will Smith showed no fear when he squashed a giant cockroach in Men in Black, but he may have just met his match in the insect realm.
Sand gnats.
Smith is currently filming his new movie Gemini Man near Savannah, Georgia. He says hes being swarmed not by his loving fans, but by tons of blood-thirsty sand gnats.
Smith posted a video on his Facebook page Tuesday saying, I love Georgia but yall gotta do something about these bugs Im just saying yall need to fix it.
In case youre already asking why Smith hasnt tried bug spray, he says he has, but the bugs is on that like its honey.
Sand gnats, also known as sand flies or no-see-ums, are blood-sucking insects that live in sandy and moist areas. They are tiny and almost translucent making it difficult to know theyre on your skin, but they leave behind giant red spots after feeding which can itch for several minutes without treatment.
Gemini Man is directed by Academy Award winner Ang Lee and also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and Clive Owen (Children of Men).
Will Smith has zillions of dollars. Shouldn’t he be spending his own money on his own comfort, rather than expecting the State of Georgia to take food and medicine and transportation and housing and education from poor children in order to accommodate him?
Try you local extension agent or farm store to find the proper insecticide. Get a power fogger
So come on over to Missouri. We don’t have those.
We do have a few chiggers and seed ticks to share though.
Try getting some dish soap and a pump insecticide spray outfit. Stir 2 tablespoons of dish soap to a gallon of water in the tank, then screw on the lid and pump it up. Spray your yard with it, esp. any sandy areas.
Diatomaceous earth spread around might also work but do it when there’s not going to be rain for a few days.
I thought they were called chigroes now.
DDT would work
That’s why it’s outlawed!
Avon Skin So Soft Bug Guard actually works as a repellant.
Spray one part peppermint essential oil and two parts water. No see em no mo fo shizzle.
The original Gemini Man should have been.
I’ve heard that. I address summer insect problems by wearing long pants and long sleeves. Also, a low-salt, high-garlic diet makes one less appealing.

So would a barbra streisand t-shirt.
I follow the moth in the helicopter to lure it away from the flowers and then Roy comes in with the Lockheed Starfighter and attacks it with air-to-air missiles.
A lot of people ask why we don’t use fly (bug) spray. Where’s the sport in that?

Whatta Pussy! Deal dude.
No, chigroes is out — it’s now Chigro-Americans.
Just one of the charms of Savannah and points south on the coast.
Put a dryer sheet under hat and clothes...dont stop them totally but dang sure puts a dent in them.
I don’t disagree with him. Bugs are in my top-ten list of why I choose not to live in the south...
