LOL after Christmas each year the neighborhood kids rounded up all the tossed aside Christmas trees, pulled them home on our bikes and pitched them into the next door neighbor’s fort. We played king of the mountain for the next few weeks. It’s a wonder we never poked our eye out. :-) Summer evenings we sat on a quilt in the front yard, listening to radio (transistor radios just introduced) gossiping, star gazing, and watching the world go by. Summertime! Ah!

Winter stormy and other cold rainy days: a bunch of blankets, all the dining room chairs, all the upholstered pillows and the sofa and love seat. Tunnels, caves and homes to be made and an afternoon of play and imagination.

Yes, fort. Building forts with blankets in the bedroom. Tie them to chair knobs and pile books on top of the blanket. We would sleep inside for the night.
