LOL after Christmas each year the neighborhood kids rounded up all the tossed aside Christmas trees, pulled them home on our bikes and pitched them into the next door neighbor’s fort. We played king of the mountain for the next few weeks. It’s a wonder we never poked our eye out. :-) Summer evenings we sat on a quilt in the front yard, listening to radio (transistor radios just introduced) gossiping, star gazing, and watching the world go by. Summertime! Ah!

kick the can was BIG at our house as was catching lightning bugs in a canning jar and putting a few little holes in the top so they "could breathe"...of course they were dead by morning...
we were sort of poor but one of our inventions was sliding down a small grassy hill in our backyard on cardboard...just as fun as sledding in the snow except you did it in the summer...
