Shani Davis, the churlish speed skating star who's no stranger to Olympic controversy, blasted Team USA team on Thursday after he lost a coin flip to determine the flag-bearer for Friday's Opening Ceremony of the Winter Games. Erin Hamlin, who in 2014 became the first American woman to ever medal in luge, won the honor to lead the U.S. delegation into Pyeongchang.
On Friday morning, Martin Rogers of USA TODAY Sports reported that Davis is not expected to walk in the Opening Ceremony.
The 35-year-old, who's won four Olympic medals and was the first black athlete to ever win gold in an individual event, insinuated that his credentials should have given him the honor of carrying the American flag.
His #BlackHistoryMonth2018 hashtag carried other implications. Hamlin, who is white, was among eight American athletes nominated as flag-bearer - one from each federation. After multiple rounds of voting, the final tally ended 4-4, whereupon a coin was flipped to decide the outcome. The tiebreaking procedure had been decided upon last year. No one found it dishonorable at the time.

The fix here...would have been to hand every single athlete a flag and let them all walk in.

I’m suspecting he has already made the decision to not compete either. Just a guess.
I am certain they did it to show they were considering minorities. I would even go so far as to venture there were discussions that took place to ensure that the process was inclusive of minorities.
Blacks are furious that white women are considered “disadvantaged” in terms of affirmative action/freebies; they view their upbringing as “privileged”, and their benefiting from those programs as theft from black people.

Besides, if we’re such a ‘racist’ nation - always keepin’ the black man down (etc) - why would a put-upon brutha have any desire to carry our flag ?
Simple solution here that the USOC would never have the guts to do. Gather the entire team. Anyone who doesn’t walk, doesn’t compete. Anyone who refuses to meet the VP or to tweet political stuff, or mouth off to the media about Trump or disrespects the country, doesn’t compete. Simple solution to a very simple problem.

...and it’s still honorable...If a black wins. Now I’m wondering how many of these aholes will be kneeling when the anthem is played.
