American speedskater Shani Davis criticized Team USA's flag-bearer selection process in a tweet Thursday morning.
After luger Erin Hamlin was chosen as the United States' representative for the opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Davis wrote the following:
Shani DavisVerified account @ShaniDavis
I am an American and when I won the 1000m in 2010 I became the first American to 2-peat in that event. @TeamUSA dishonorably tossed a coin to decide its 2018 flag bearer. No problem. I can wait until 2022. #BlackHistoryMonth2018 #PyeongChang2018
According to the Associated Press, Hamlin and Davis were two of the eight candidates to carry the flag. A 4-4 deadlock in the voting led to a coin flip, which resulted in Hamlin winning the right to be flag-bearer.
The United States Olympic Committee made it known that voters were aware of a coin flip being the final tiebreaker if no majority decision could be reached.

Freeking cry baby
If his “2-peat” in 2010 was such a big deal, why wasn’t he indignant about not being chosen in 2014?
One gets the feeling he views being flag bearer as a right, not a privilege or an honor.
He has shown himself to be an A-hole.
Why would we want an A-hole for our flag bearer? It appears the coin toss made the correct decision.
“How does one dishonorably toss a coin?”
It’s only dishonorable if the black bitch loses.
How about if we honorably toss all three of them to decide?
Better I guess than fighting it out with swords and brass knuckles?
This just in: If you’re white, you’re racist. If you’re white and you never do, say or think anything racist and you treat everyone equally and fairly—well, then you’re super-duper racist because you’re just avoiding your racism.
Under Affirmative Action doctrine, whenever there's a tie between a black candidate and white candidate, the black candidate is supposed to win.
I couldn’t help but notice.
Not once did you mention a minority group.
Think of the ratings or Pay Per View $$$$ that would generate tho...
Or to put it in non-moron parlance: the first American to REPEAT (winning) in that event...
Because only whites are racist.
It’s not very inclusive if only white people are allowed to be racist.
Seems kind of racist?
Ruh Roh! Sounds like we have an ENTITLED person at the Olympics!
Basically he believed he was entitled bc he’s black.
What an awful sportsman.
My bad, sorry
Move on, dude
But he b!tches like a lady
Sportsmanship dude, Get some......and stop interpreting everything as racial.....geeez
But whites are constantly told they’re racists so .....
Then, you need to drop out of the Olympics1
Yeah, thatll show em! You go girl!
