FULL TITLE: Morning after the night before: Eagles fans leave Philly littered with glass, beer cans and downed traffic lights after night of exuberant Super Bowl celebrations

They call Philadelphia the City of Brotherly Love, but Eagles fans weren't looking out for each other on Sunday night, when they trashed the city celebrating their Super Bowl win.

On Monday, Philadelphians heading into work took to social media, sharing hundreds of pictures of the aftermath of Sunday night's Super Bowl celebrations.

From a collapsed awning outside the Ritz-Carlton hotel, which smashed under the weight of nearly a dozen people, to the countless traffic lights ripped to the ground, the damage showed what a mess 'Birds' fans can make.

While many of the overzealous fans were sleeping off hangovers, the city's workers got down to business cleaning up after their mess - boarding up shattered shop windows and sweeping up glass.

Cops who would usually be patrolling the streets were mitigated to directing traffic as municipal workers righted and repaired traffic lights.

Workers now have just three days to clean the city up before it hosts its Super Bowl celebration parade on Thursday. The Eagles returned victorious Monday as well, bringing the Vince Lombardi back to their hometown for the first time

It’d look the same no matter which team won. People have turned into scum.

Maybe they could do like the Aztec/Mayan cultures and slaughter the winning team...might calm the fans down a little...or not

My feelings, exactly. It is a closer drive to Cleveland, Buffalo or even Washington, DC. Thank God we have a mountain range protecting us from that poor excuse of a city.

If it were up to me, I'd carve out a little enclave which includes the airport, seaport, historical sites and Delaware borderlands for our part of the Commonwealth and force the rest of it into New Jersey.

People have turned into scum.

I wonder if it’s better or worse than looking around Los Angeles International Airport. Probably a toss up

I couldn’t believe the video of that Philly fan eating horse dung either. In all of my years I’ve NEVER been that happy!
It’s on you tube now.

“There are Irish down here and we don’t riot after a ballgame win or lose”

Huh? What about World Cup?

Outside of the large cities I honestly doubt anyone here gives a flip about World Cup let alone riots over it. Where did you think I was referring to, when I wrote “down here?”

Dont make it out like a north south bs thing. Its a big urban center black population thing, all over the country.

I don’t see any video of rioting fans in Atlanta, I see some of people marching and chanting like leftist idiots, but nothing that could be described as rioting. Can you share your evidence of this?

Assuming you can, do you have any other points of reference? I know I can find articles and video pertaining to rioting after football games going back to the 60’s at least, in the north.

And, try as you might, you can’t pin it on black people.

“Irish” and “don’t riot”

Down here? Where’s that? South of Lansdowne Road?

By modern standards, the Philadelphia celebration was benign - no loss of life and only minor vandalism.
The subway/bus agency, SEPTA, stopped much of the system early to keep people from converging on Center City.
SEPTA lied about the train from South Jersey (PATCO from Lindenwold). People at stations along that route paid for parking and fares. Then about 200 people were transported to a Camden station where they were told nothing. Then the electricity was turned off.
Temperatures first rose in the smelly sardine-can trains then plummeted in the now near-freezing outside air.
Finally, after about 90 minutes, some of the strongest passengers forced the doors and helped the other people down from the train and other people helped others to descend the icy hill to the concrete.
I was driving passengers after the game and was directed to the Camden Ferry Ave. station where I helped two groups get out of Camden.
SEPTA said it was unable to bring another train for the “disabled” train.
How? Without electricity? SEPTA blamed vandalism. Those people weren’t vandals, they were heroes.
Passengers, police, firemen, EMTs, taxi, Lyft and Uber drivers and private car drivers averted a disaster.

I am remiss in my due diligence of vetting and validating. However, it did seem a little broad-brushed though... the Irish never riot, indeed. The Scottish blood pumping through my Scottish heart knows different cousin.
