Attorney General Jeff Sessions defended his deputy, Rod Rosenstein, on Friday in the face of criticism from the president, who wouldn't say if he still has confidence in Rosenstein.
Sessions broke from prepared remarks in a speech on human trafficking. He praised Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who is overseeing the special counsel's Russia probe, as well as the department's No. 3 official, Rachel Brand.
Standing on a stage with them, Sessions said both are experienced lawyers and "represent the kind of quality and leadership that we want in the department."
That's a departure from President Donald Trump.
After Trump announced on Friday the declassification of a disputed memo on the Russia probe, he was asked whether he has confidence in Rosenstein. Trump said, "You figure that one out."

Haven’t been one to criticize Sessions to this point, I’ve trusted in Trump’s judgement. But if this is not fake news, my opinion of Trump is starting to suffer. If true, Sessions needs to go now.

Jeff Sessions has proven to be a very weak Executive Administrator in the most important of Departments.
You have a Department that is not under the effective control of the President of the United States. Now demonstrating that there is ZERO accountability in the Department.
By extension, this makes the President of the United States appear weak as well.

What’s more horrible? The memo or Session’s defense of Rostentein? Session’s defense proves how deep the corruption goes.
Rosenstein can’t stay he is a dirty cop also his name is on a false document given to the FISA court. Everything he touches is crapola from here on in.
Who's next in line after Sessions and Rosenstein after he fires them both?
My theory is that Mueller will jump on any DOJ or FBI firing as proof of obstruction. If I’m right, within a few days of the conclusion of Mueller’s witch hunt, Sessions is out of a job.
Sessions should hire Guiliani for 9 months to investigate the charge sin the memo and bring recommendations for indictments as indicated.
President fire Rosenstein now screw Sessions.
Do rational Americans need anymore proof that the entire fed govt is completely and irreparably corrupt? I think even replacing Sessions with a loyal, pit bull AG, there’s way too much corruption.
We need a convention of the states to hold Nuremberg-style treason trials and hangings on the national mall.
