Playing yourself can be just as hard as impersonating anybody else. The biggest part of film acting is if the camera likes you. It’s an explainable thing, but true. Part of the gift is if you draw attention by just entering a room - the other part is running some film and see how you test. Wayne just had it.

I thought he did excellent jobs in “At Close Range” and “Colors”.

I’m a fan of Mark Wahlberg too. He is equally good at drama, action and comedy.
Underrated, in my opinion.

And “The Sum of All Fears” is the worst adaptation of a novel to a screen play I’ve ever seen. “Pearl Harbor” was a steaming pile of feces compared to the early ‘70’s “Tora Tora Tora”.

Awfully good as Jason Bourne, though.

Katherine Hepburn, terrible actress. They built films around her.
Meryl Streep. No matter what role she plays, she over acts it.
A surprisingly good actress, singer and dancer, and I didn’t expect it, was Marylyn Monroe in Diamonds are a Girls best friend.

Totally type-cast into fantasy movies I guess.

Still is, watched her recently in a newer film, and she still stands with her head down mumbling.
If one sleeps with the director or main actor, one gets a role. evidently.

Does anyone remember Steve Reeves the sort of original Hercules in the Sword-N-Sandal 1950s-early 1960s movie era?
His acting was so bad I don’t think he was allowed to use his own voice in his roles.

He played a role with Patricia o Neal In Harm’s Way and he was terrific.
I watched it about two years ago and was in awe of the acting and directing.

I thought he was perfect for Moonstruck, but he went downhill after it.

Does anyone remember Steve Reeves I'd have to ask my wife. She was in love with him, back when she was about 7 or 8. I think it was the muscles...

Maybe. But Stewart wasn’t a suppurating anal port like De Niro is, so I cut Stewart some slack
