Leaders of both parties are already assuming Speaker Pelosi; Dem house takeover is “baked in”
Axios ^ | Jan 14, 2018 | Mike Allen

Trump's day of reckoning ... The one thing that could dramatically diminish President Trump’s chances of avoiding impeachment and chalking up legislative wins is Democrats winning the House.

And, thanks to series of recent developments, Trump knows this no longer just seems plausible, but probable.

Show less Hill sources tell us that a House Democratic takeover is now likely. One strategist close to Republican leaders believes that a loss of the House is "baked in," and said top Republicans don't see a way to avoid it.

The Republican Party is pathetic but I don’t believe this for a minute. There are very few swing Congressional seats these days, and the Democratic margin of victory in swing districts does not vote in midterm elections. Add to that a booming economy and Trump winning in the Middle East and I just don’t see a Democratic wave.

How many Never-Trumpers and RINOS are pulling for SanFranNan to get the gavel back?

I almost think it would better for Trump if Nan had the gavel. At least she would be a clear enemy, unlike Ryan, who hides it.

I hope so but polls say otherwise, also Dems have vastly outperformed in elections in the past year. They’ve picked up state house seats in rural areas that went heavily for trump in Oklahoma and Virginia. That’s not a good sign.

Dem turnout is way up in the past year. They’ve been flipping deep red seats (state house races) where trump won huge margins.

You know what, bring it? At least it simplifies the situation, Trump then would only have to worry about the Rats, the RINOs would be irrelevant.

Having a Rat Congress didn’t hurt Reagan. And I actually think a Rat-held Congress ultimately helps Trump’s re-election chances.

One is the Issa district in CA; another is the Farenthold district in TX. I guess 38 others.

The playbook and tactic is to talk it up, to repeat it so often that people will begin to believe it, and if people begin to believe it, then it will happen.

It’s called trying to make it happen. If it’s a certainty that democrats will take the house, then, they wouldn’t have to talk it up so much to try to make it happen. They would just surprise us at election time.

In any case, what are they going to run on in order to be so certain that “they got this”.

“Impeachment”

That’s the part that got me right away. Over what? If they can fanangle a charge, who’s gonna impeach and convict?

Trump has a roaring economy and his rating keeps getting higher.

Facts are facts. Dems have a large lead in generic ballot. Even if you don’t believe polls, the proof is in the pudding.....Dems have done extremely
Well and vastly outperformed every district there has been a race in.

I still believe that the GOPe is planning to throw 2018 to the rats and let them do their dirty impeachment work for them while they stand idly by and feebly protest. They were willing to throw Alabama to the rats so why not?

” They’ve been flipping deep red seats (state house races) where trump won huge margins.”

The rats won three seats, compared to the 1,000 elective offices that have flipped to the Republicans since 2010. Go on a cruise to Haiti or somewhere to get your head cleared out.

THis is a false flag distraction story. It’s intent is to make it loook like Trump is failing. He is not.

50-50 chance at best for the Dems and probably 60-40 odds for the Repubs as the year goes on. Won’t stop all the gloom and doom folks from doing what they can (mostly by wordy inaction) to help the Dems though.

Axios is run by a Leftist liberal, Democrat.

Jim VandeHei
CEO/Co-Founder of Axios; Former CEO/Co-Founder of Politico; adviser, fan of The Information

Here is one of the predictions made by Hillary supporter Jim VandeHei:

Dear Conservatives: Politico’s Jim VandeHei Is Playing You for Suckers … AgainByJohn Nolte

@NolteNC
October 6, 2016

Jim VendeHei, the left-winger who co-founded the left-wing Politico, is up to his old tricks again, and conservatives must not fall for them again. You might personally like VandeHei, but don’t let that cloud the fact that he is a brilliant conman with a very specific playbook (if you’ll pardon the pun). Don’t forget that in 2006, he ran this playbook on y’all and we all fell for it — and the results were catastrophic.

Do you not see parallels between 2006 and 2018?

Dems were energized then, as they are now. Polls show large democrat generic ballot. Low approval ratings for bush in 2006, low approvals for Trump, etc.

I fvcking hate Dems, but when it comes to politics I’m a worrier and a pessimist by nature.

Perspective, People!

The 1982 United States House of Representatives elections was an election for the United States House of Representatives held on November 2, 1982, in the middle of President Ronald Reagan’s first term, whose popularity was sinking due to economic conditions under the 1982 recession. The President’s Republican Party lost seats in the House, which could be viewed as a response to the President’s approval at the time. Unlike most midterm election cycles, the number of seats lost—27 seats to the Democratic Party—was a comparatively large swap. It included most of the seats that had been gained the previous election, cementing the Democratic majority.[1] Coincidentally, the number of seats the Democratic picked up (26), was the exact amount the Republicans needed to win the House majority.

And we all know Reagan never recovered from it. /s

False analogy. The Democrats did not impeach Reagan, but they will (have to) impeach Trump if they win the House ...

Yes, and also back then Dems would actually work with Reagan to get stuff done. There were actual moderate and conservative factions of Dems. That’s not the case anymore.
