ESPN’s presentation of the epic College Football Playoff National Championship between Georgia and Alabama (Jan. 8 at 8 p.m.) delivered a massive 16.7 overnight on its Nielsen-rated networks (ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU) as part of its MegaCast production, up 9% from last season’s thrilling College Football Playoff National Championship on the same three Nielsen-rated networks. The ESPN-only presentation delivered a monster 16.0 overnight for the Crimson Tide’s overtime victory, up 8% from the ESPN-only presentation last season, a game which featured a dramatic, last minute touchdown to win the game.

The game did a 23 rating in Columbus, Ohio.

I luv the ESPN Megacast. I watched the coaches room options. David Cutcliffe was impressive.
How about so much for the NFL has over saturated the market and people are tired of football.
I agree and it was a fantastic game.

I watched it too, although fell asleep a couple times.
I saw Trump walking in with the color guard, something no other president who dare try doing.
But after that, did ESPN show him even one time? I saw Hershel Walker once, but not Trump.
If not, then I find it pretty lame of them.
I didn’t watch it. We already knew the #1 team (UCF). And the college football payoff once again left out the big10 champ. Last year they didn’t take the big10 champion and this year they didn’t even take the big10.
Anything to make sure SEC has a better chance to win.
The president did not stay long. Trump left at halftime.
I think if nobody but SEC teams go to this game for several years in a row, it will have a corrosive effect.
But last night’s was a fantastic game.
So much for NFL apologists that argue that the double digit decline in wild card ratings this past weekend was due to other non-cable platforms.
That would be as close to a controlled study that you can get.

The NFL wild card playoff game Sunday afternoon had higher TV ratings at 20.4 than the college championship.
Last night’s game reminded a lot of the last Super Bowl. One team goes up big only to lose it in overtime.
Both involved a team from GA. That state is cursed.
It better—both NFL games Sunday were on over-the-air free TV.
Did they show him during the game at all after the beginning?
I liked UCF and pulled for them but you are full of crap. If they played in the SEC they would not have had enough starters to play a whole game.Anyone wanting to play in a Championship Game has to come from SEC,ACC,Big Ten, West Coast or the Oklahoma Region.
