Mother of armed robber shot dead by man defending his children: ‘Why did he shoot him five times?’
After an armed man entered a Popeye’s restaurant in San Antonio last month and reportedly pointed a gun at a customer’s children, that customer — a licensed concealed carrier — shot the gunman dead.
But now the mother of the deceased 19-year-old gunman is asking why the father who fatally shot her son chose to fire more than once.

Because that is how many shots it took to alleviate the threat to his children, himself, and the other people in the restaurant.

Many modern revolvers are now 5 shot. 1 or 5, the main thing is the threat is gone. Forever in this case.

A sheriff in Pasco County, Florida was asked why his d puties shot a murder suspect (x) ammount of times?

After the perp is dead, why do any additional shots seem to be some big issue now? It’s not like it’s somehow ‘more cruel’ to perma-drop him with a couple of rounds than it would be to spend an afternoon hosing him with a minigun, end result is the same.

From the headline it sounded as if the mother was shot dead.
Because she wasn’t there so he could shoot her as well?
As I seem to be a little slow on the ping I will just reiterate what I see the other posters saying.
Five was enough OR
There was only five in the chambers.
All of them solid answers and reasonable in the situation.
But why didn’t she raise him better is the real question.
Because even fatal bullet strikes are rarely instantly fatal. Many times people fire once, achieve what will eventually be a fatal hit and are then killed by the perp.
If her son had been hit four times, or three times, or two times...or, even once...she would still be upset. This is because her son is dead. Whether it was one hit or a dozen is immaterial to her. She has to complain about something.
Because that is how many it took for the father to ensure he had successfully eliminated the threat! PERIOD!!
Well, she didn’t know how long they left the thug on the floor. That is the usual complaint here. “Why did they leave my poor dead son in a pool of blood for over an hour””
