Like Hannibal, I wanted to rank powerful leaders in the history of warfare. Unlike Hannibal, I sought to use data to determine a generals abilities, rather than specific accounts of generals achievements. The result is a system for ranking every prominent commander in military history.

Patton saw the German army for what it was - 10% advanced armor and 90% infantry still walking on foot and supplied by horse and cart.
It’s nearly impossible to compare generals from different times and cultures. But I would argue that Genghis Kahn gets the nod. He started with a few tribesmen, and created a superbly organized army that conquered the largest empire in human history. He was never defeated and Europe only was spared because he died and his successors fought each other for control. No general comes close to starting with so little and accomplishing so much.
Didn’t see your post before I posted. Great minds think alike!

Back To The Top and BUMP (of latest comments). You will also see PFL/BFL (Bump/Ping for later), INDEX and BOOKMARK which FReepers use to remind themselves to read when they have the time.

bump.
There’s a FR screen lots of us live on: Latest comments. You just happened to be the last comment of the thread, so I bumped your comment to make a bookmark, but it also alerts other people perusing Latest Comments to check out this thread if so inclined.

N00B!
Washington also was very adroit in the intelligence game.
We probably haven’t had anybody since that would be “hands on” in initiating it, managing it and master consumer of its product.
So what you are saying is that you cannot answer the question I asked. That is all you have to say if that is the case.
LOLLOL!
Washington, Sam Houston and now CINC are disciples of Sun Tzu’s Deception doctrine, and the Left still can’t ‘grok’ it.
It would appear the ‘student’s’ native language is Mandarin or Cantonese or somethin...
Forgot about Sam Houston!
Good on you for including him.
