Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Chris Wray made an unannounced visit to Speaker Paul Ryan's office Wednesday as the Justice Department grapples with an increasingly hostile faction of House Republicans demanding documents related to the bureau's Russia probe.
Rosenstein was spotted entering Ryan's office, and a spokesman for the speaker confirmed that Rosenstein and Wray had requested the meeting. A second person familiar with the meeting said it was related to a document request issued over the summer by House intelligence committee chairman Devin Nunes.
Nunes (R-Calif) has mounted an aggressive push with the threat of contempt citations for members of the FBI and Justice Department to glean more information about how the FBI handled a disputed dossier alleging illicit ties between President Donald Trump and the Kremlin.
Unfortunately, DOJ/FBI's intransigence with respect to the August 24 subpoenas is part of a broader pattern of behavior that can no longer be tolerated, Nunes wrote to Rosenstein in a letter provided to Fox News last week.
Nunes is seeking details about meetings between FBI officials and those who helped compile the dossier. He also demanded interviews with a slate of top FBI officials. And he's floated the notion of issuing contempt resolutions against Rosenstein and Wray if they fail to comply.

Do you have a source? I don't see anything confirming this, even on twitter. It would indeed be a very serious crisis if Rosenstein and Wray declined to release the documents.
Basically they are going to try to convince Ryan that it would be catstrophic for the FBI and DOJ to have to produce these documents because the American people would be outraged if they knew what the Obama administration did.
Probably brought transcripts of calls they monitored between him and the Clinton campaign or maybe even pictures of his family members in cuffs.
I read an article yesterday. Dont remember where. It said that the subpoena is on Rosensteins desk. Hes sitting on it.
Rosenstein: "Speaker Ryan, I'm sorry to tell you, the documents the Committee seeks have been lost."
Speaker Ryan: "What do you mean, 'lost?!?'"
Wray: "Apparently, somebody spilled some Bleachbit on them."
Sure hope you’re Wright, Reverend... ;>)
Invest in bracelets !
Sorry the documents were burned at the Clinton compound this morning.
Sessions was watching reruns of The Andy Griffith Show and preparing for bed, the same routine he’s had for the past year. Let the young’ns at the Department handle the busywork. He’s got sleep to do.
This is where they tell Ryan to call off the dogs..... or they’ll release whatever dirt they have on him.... or just make some up.
A very good way to continue the corruption.
Wray: “Apparently, somebody spilled some Bleachbit on them.”
...
Well, there was a fire at the Clinton house today.
I wonder.......
There was a report somewhere a while ago that I discounted. It said that Paul Ryan was the third person on the plane with Bill Clinton and the Attorney General Lynch.
Hmmmmm.
I wonder what his name was???
It is far more likely that this meeting was bringing bad news than good.

Americans have a right to know what Ryan’s Tarmac meeting was about.
This is unimportant. We must consentrate on the Wolff / Bannon / Trump controversy .
