Fast car chase scenes has been around in movies for over 50 years. James Bond, Fast and Furious, The Blues Brothers, and many more. Which cinema car chase is your favorite of all time?
The DVD commentary explains why the movie has no musical soundtrack. They originally commissioned one; but what they got turned out to be something in cutesy Smokey-and-the-Bandit-style. This was completely out of character with the tone of the movie; so it was decided to just do without it. If they had kept the soundtrack, the ending would have been even more surprising.
OJ and Al Collings
= = =
There’s a joke, something about OJ stalled on the freeway, and asking for donations or he will burn himself up.
Someone says, OK, I’ll give 5 gallons.
Yes, RONIN - I was trying to remember the name of that movie - that’s the first one that came to my mind. Awesome car chase.
Bullit, nothing close for second
In terms of wrecked Illinois State Patrol and Chicago Police cruisers wrecked en masse in mind bending numbers (and a pack of Illinois Nazis), yes, Jake and Elwood hold the record. IMHO one of the best movies (because of the music) ever made.
Good one. # 2 behind Bullit
There’s a pretty decent chase scene around the streets of Pittsburgh in the 1993 Bruce Willis flick “Striking Distance”.

Bullit
Bullitt. There are others more elaborate but for raw, gritty, brutal, authentic power that one has set the standard.
Bullitt car chase was the best. Fine movie as well.
One driving scene in the movie that impressed me was Steve McQueen parallel parking into a tight space, uphill, on the other side of the road. Think about it.
French Connection
Bullitt - set the standard for non-special-effects chases.
All great choices to be sure and I second Rendezvous.
I always enjoyed 007 Diamonds are Forever:
Sean Connery gets his Mustang on two wheels (the right two) then entered a narrow alley to escape the police...
He comes out the other side of the alley on the left two wheels!
What a clever Double - 0 Agent!
The Bourne Moscow chase was pretty intense.
The Southern Highway Patrolman approaches the car, the driver a proud resident of this same Southern State cranks the window down and says “howdy officer”.
The Patrolman looks the car over front to back then the occupant who has a sweat sheen, 5 day stubble, and hasn’t showered in a day or three and says “you got an ID son? “
The driver cringes at the punctuated “son” swallows noticeably with an exaggerated apple bobb focuses on the patrolmans badge then his reflection in the mirrored aviators and musters with all honesty “’bout what?”
Yeah there was a nun and a priest.
I thought OJ’s slow speed chase through west Hollywood in a white Ford Bronco was a hoot!
