When we heard Dad cussing up a storm in the middle of the night, we just knew it was because he'd just stepped on a Lego.
I died and went to Heaven when 007 Attache was opened one Xmas...
I still have my mother’s hoop.
1. Easy Bake Oven - Too expensive for my sisters
2. GI Joe - Got one a few years later
3. Operation-Older sister had it
4. Battleship-Big brother-I got the same one on ebay a few years back that my kids play today.
5. Hot Wheels-Big brother
6. ‘68 Hot Rods - brother had some
7. ‘69 Chemistry Set - Big brother again
8. ‘70 Lite Brite - Yes. Godparents got it for me.
9. ‘71 Space Hoppers - I remember them looking different, simple loop on top. Small kiddie version with horse head.
10. ‘72 Uno - We were a Pinochle family. Though I did get Rook, Mille Bornes, and Flinch. (Big on Parker Brothers)
11. ‘73 Walkie Talkies - Big brother had ‘em. Worked poorly.
12. ‘74 Tonka Toy - Yes, I had one. Yellow bulldozer.
13. ‘75 Pet Rock - No, but I laughed at the kid who got one. More a novelty than a kids’ toy.
14. Connect Four — Yes. Played it with friends and siblings.
Aged out.
LOL!
Real Lawn Darts with the pointed-steel ends.
1946. Well if there wasn’t then I’m not here.
My Red Ryder BBgun never made the list. They call me Cyclops.
Does anyone remember Footsie (a loop and bolo jump rope type thing), Fidget (NOT the new gadget, but a handheld kaleidoscope), or the game with the great ad but lousy game play, Radar Search?
pet sticks were all the rage way back then
Exactly my fathers suggestion when we complained about not having anything to do.
Erector Set. Probably millions of stray pieces of those in nooks and crannies in half the old houses in America.
:)
The most popular flavor goop ran out first, then the least. Then, we resorted to licking the containers.
You can find a complete set in the original boxes on the Internet. I think that you can even buy the goop (or maybe there is a recipe for making your own). Of course, a complete set in the box would be a toy collector’s item.
And the goop, now 40-50 years old is probably not any good.
BARRELL OF monkeys
Oh I played with that for hours and hours it drove me crazy trying to hook them all!!
You didn’t miss much.
I was born in 1960. We played with sticks and stones. And we were damned happy to get them.
