Watercutter thumbs her nose at "the so-called alt-right" who resent the diverse cast, and also at "the misogynist, racist, classist, dark side of the populace thats always been present, wielding power in one form or another." In case you don't get the hint, that "dark side of the populace" is Donald Trump voters: "The movie isn't here to Make the Galaxy Great Again," she sneers.

“Maybe “us” viewers are tired of the constant social justice hammering”
The NBC Nightly news ends many segments with a recognition of “heroes”: first responders, firefighters, military, police, little kids that help others, people that put wreaths on all the headstones in Arlington, etc.
Then there are the people that we should feel sorry for and should want to help: druggies, drunks, people who can’t get subsidizes medical care, celebrity victims of sexual abuse (or “misconduct”), those with diseases due to a poor lifestyle, groups that are victims of white privilege, etc.
I’m just an ordinary schmuck.
I haven’t watched a Hollywood movie in almost 15 years. That means no going to the theater, no Redbox, no streaming on line, no nothing. Hollywood can take their PC anti-American garbage movies and shove them where the sun don’t shine.
“We’re all inclusive here because we excluded everyone who isn’t inclusive.”
Well, these are the same dimwits who would be perfectly fine with a remake of “SEAL Team Six” that had a 50% cast of women, homosexuals, transsexuals, and other flavors of LBQRZTIUMBFKSY stuff, so this is no surprise.
Ocean's 11 is being remade as Ocean's 8 with an all-female cast.
Should go over about as well as the feminist version of Ghostbusters.

There’s that leftist hate again.
Yeah, it’s pathetic. There was a lame, half-assed stab at SJWness on the casino planet, but that entire scene was pointless, boring, and stupid anyway. Hands down, the weakest part of the film, and it highlighted that Finn should’ve been killed at the end of Episode VII—an uninteresting character who has nothing to do.
I was really, badly hoping Rey and Ben Solo would team up, though. That would’ve been a really interesting turn to match the movie’s theme of “let the past die.” They have to do something, b/c “Star Wars” as a concept appears to be a huge universe, but it’s actually quite limited. I applaud Rian Johnson for trying something new.
I had a subscription a loooong time ago, and they jumped the shark with that crap very early on, to me.
I kind of liked the first one because it was...different. Hokey in some parts, but entertaining.
Then the second one came out, I saw that, and...it was okay.
Then the third one came out, and I lost all interest after that one.
Kind of like the Harry Potter thing...first one was...different. Second one...eh. Never paid any attention to it again.
I had a subscription in the mid-nineties, and by 1998, it was clear they were no longer going to be a tech magazine but an entertainment rag, and I bailed on it. Never read any of it since then.
My wife just told me about this last night.
I love her. She is my wife. But it was everything I could do to keep my face neutral and not blurt out in that special tone of voice “Really? You gotta be S....ing me...!”
I just watched the preview at the link...
Ugh.
My wife used to tease me about having the hots for Sandra Bullock (back in the days of “Demoltion Man”!) but she looks kind of harsh now.
And the other female actresses, the only one I was interested in (because she looked so good in a CatWoman suit) was Annie Hathaway, but...her teeth seemed to stick out a lot further than I remember. Probably because looking at her posterior in a rubberized, skintight CatWoman suit with knee-high stilleto leather boots tended to obscure things...
But I really dislike the others in it. Wouldn’t watch it anyway since it is clear what they want to accomplish with the movie.
What is this, The Last Ghostbusters?
These idiots are never going to learn.
Well, to be fair, Captain Phasma is female and a villain (though I can probably forgive her being forgotten since she pretty much lives in her Stormtrooper armor which lacks any tertiary sexual characteristics obviously).
I think there were a few instances of Asians and females aboard the Supremacy based on what I’ve read in the Visual Dictionary of The Last Jedi, and I think there was one other female Stormtrooper in The Force Awakens (she’s the one who reported to Kylo Ren about there being a sensor alert in Hangar 718).
But yeah, beyond that... they’re a minority among the bad guys.
And I won’t comment on The Last Jedi yet since I haven’t seen it (preliminary-wise, it’s got more to it than The Force Awakens, though the fact that it resolved several plotlines a bit too soon seems to be a mark against it). But I do know that, after the messing up of Star Wars Rebels, the Aftermath Trilogy of books, the Lords of Sith debacle, The Force Awakens, and of course their screwing up Battlefront II with both a false advertising campaign and the mess with the loot system, I’m cynical about Star Wars future under Disney.
Same here. And that happened with harry potter too. I see them as kids movies.
Well, I watch some movies. As long as the PC isn’t too bad, I don’t particularly mind it. But when they slap you in the face with it, no.
Wife is taking me to see that movie about Winston Churchill, though. Let’s see if they mess that up.
Captain Phasma - villain, female
I don’t have a problem with kid’s movies either, but...once they become unoriginal and are simply being used to try to wring a few more dollars from a now-stale concept...well, you know!
Well, there was obviously a big push for “diversity” with the new movies and there is some politicization of the storylines (though Lucas already politicized his movies so that is not new).
However, the movies themselves are already kind of weak for bigger reasons than those. Why bother griping out the left using these for a “social justice” vehicle, when the bigger issue is that they have plot holes, or weak plots altogether, inconsistent logic, and poor characterization?
