To equivocate is to say something in a way that can be understood multiple ways, especially so that people will think you mean one thing when you really mean another. It's choosing and arranging your words carefully so that you're not quite lying but so that your listener winds up deceived or misled.
Equivocate and its adjective and noun relations, equivocal and equivocation, come from Late Latin aequivocus, itself from aequi-, meaning "equal" or "equally," and voc- or vox, meaning "voice." "Equal voice" sounds like a nicely egalitarian kind of notion, but in this case it's conflicting interpretations that have equal voice, which makes knowing what to believe very tricky.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
We can almost wish the dems were equivocating about the tax bill last night. Sadly they were merely doing what they do best, lying through their teeth.
Trump uses equivocation as a form of satire. Like referring to Rosie as a pig. I mean, really, can you even imagine Trump equivocating about ANYTHING?
Bill Clinton is the master of equivocation. Hilliary not so much..................

Unfortunately, the liberals consider NO (conservative, much less citizen’s) decision to be equal to their decisions and prejudices , thus, they need to equavote everything from their sandcastles on the Potomac River. Doesn’t matter what the count is, nor who actually votes on what issues, the election is equavoted already.
Bumbling, blustering,
Boasting, debate,
Straw-man arguments,
Absurd Overstate,
Ad-Hominims overflowing with hate,
Those dems sure know how to
equivocate.
We have effectively equated equivocate and prevaricate. Not a bad understanding, considering BC as the quintessential exemplar.

Equivocation was one of the reasons I pulled out my phone to record the last meeting with my manager and HR, to be sure there was no misunderstanding or denying what was said to me.
