All eyes are on what Donald Trump will do, as the oracles on Twitter and the Hill have predicted that the president may fire special counsel Robert S. Mueller around the holidays. Trumps lawyers have denied that he is considering such a move, and Trump himself has not directly criticized Mueller. However, Trump has recently expressed dissatisfaction with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, calling him weak and a threat. Along with those comments, the Washington Post reports that Trump appeared to be contemplating changes in the Justice Departments leadership. In short, theres a good chance that the guillotine is poised for Rosenstein, not for Mueller....
Removing Rosenstein and replacing him with a DAG who is at the very least more sympathetic to Trump could have drastic repercussions for the investigation. The new DAG could burden the special counsel with a requirement to provide an explanation for every move he makes and then decide that they arent necessary or appropriate. A new DAG would even have the ultimate, er, trump card: She could decide at some point that the investigation should not even continue at all...
Since Rosenstein is his own political appointee, Trump has great discretion in deciding whether to remove him, and he can do it quickly and directly. And by removing Rosenstein but not touching Mueller, Trump can claim that he is in fact not trying to interfere with the Russia investigation at all: Indeed, it could be very hard to prove otherwise, which insulates him significantly from further obstruction charges.

Mueller is doing a good job of derailing the “investigation. Trump will carry on with the business of MAGA.
Mueller is doing a fine job of running this thing off the rails by himself.
I don’t think we see another move until the IG report is issued. If damning, Rosenstein is toast.....
MSM=disinformation
Put Amtrak in charge.
All fake news, based on unnamed sources, but what the hell, 90% of what’s posted on FR these days is either blog or fake news crap.
WaPo is the source of this nonsense: “Trump has ranted about Rosenstein as a Democrat, one of these advisers said,”
Go find this “advisor”, get them to show their face and say it on the record, and then maybe it will be worth talking about here.
Otherwise: More fake news.
Trump is derailing the Mueller investigation by not being guilty.
Will Holder now include RR in his red line/burn the cities threat?
Mueller hasn't done anything but prosecute Trump associates, which he will continue to do, as he works his way towards the top. Rosenstein has stated he fully supports this, several times now.
It is the conservative media and the Congressional committees that have exposed Mueller's biases, but only Trump (or AWOL Sessions) that will ever shut him down for them.
More fake news and straw-man ruminations.
Actually agree with this.
Removing Rosenstein and replacing him with a competent non-partisan legal manager would result in John Wilkes Mueller being removed for cause.
And there are many, many legal causes that scream for Mueller’s removal. Like the fact that the “investigation” should never have started in the first place.
But RosenKranz is an unindicted co-conspirator of the Mueller-Comey-Clinton-Strzok sedition ring. So he started it cuz he was told to. Comey even admits that was the plan.
So the key is little tweedlestein. End him, end the Inquisition. Mueller holds no portfolio except what his little mini-me accords him.
Exactly so
Holder should be in jail
They won't buffalo DJT, and eventually the investigators will be the investigated.
Exactly right and no one should ever forget it.
But the fact survives a departed Rosenstein.
And being politically correct, the Indian author of this little piece refers to the new DAG in the feminine.
Leading to the only choice for DAG to replace Rosen-traitor: Ann Coulter!
She will administer the review with all the alacrity and impartiality that Mueller's people brought to their jobs, and of which we are told we have no right to criticize.
Slate = Luegenpresse
For there to be further charges, there would have to be existing charges. And there are currently NO obstruction charges against Trump.
So Slate = Lying Press.
Asha Rangappa = Lying Reporter
Deport her Asha.
Actually Trump’s own words from his interview when Rosenstein first appointed Mueller speak volumes about how he feels about them both:
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/19/us/politics/trump-interview-sessions-russia.html
Mr. Trump was also critical of Mr. Mueller, a former F.B.I. director, reprising some of his past complaints that lawyers in his office contributed money to Mrs. Clintons campaign. He noted that he actually interviewed Mr. Mueller to replace Mr. Comey just before his appointment as special counsel.
He was up here and he wanted the job, Mr. Trump said. After he was named special counsel, I said, What the hell is this all about? Talk about conflicts. But he was interviewing for the job. There were many other conflicts that I havent said, but I will at some point.
The president also expressed discontent with Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, a former federal prosecutor from Baltimore. When Mr. Sessions recused himself, the president said he was irritated to learn where his deputy was from. There are very few Republicans in Baltimore, if any, he said of the predominantly Democratic city.
He complained that Mr. Rosenstein had in effect been on both sides when it came to Mr. Comey. The deputy attorney general recommended Mr. Comey be fired but then appointed Mr. Mueller, who may be investigating whether the dismissal was an obstruction of justice. Well, thats a conflict of interest, Mr. Trump said. Do you know how many conflicts of interests there are?
And one good guess I've heard is because Rosenstein wanted Mueller as FBI director instead of Comey, because they had worked together on Uranium One etc. When Trump turned Mueller down, the very next day Rosenstein appointed him to investigate Trump.
