What did you do when you retired?
Getting close to the point that I may be able to retire.
Thinking about reselling,yard sales,goodwills,estates sales.
Always enjoyed junking,antiquing.
Gotta stay busy.
Get a decent strop, I recommend the Rick Butz Strop which has the same kind of leather glued to a wood paddle that has curves for finishing out the inside of wood gouges
Butter that in with the Herb's Yellowstone, 2,3 swipes and you have a mirror razor finish to the blade
I do most of my stuff in the round but here is a good project that is on my list
Learned long ago the old ways are the good ways.

I can remove far more wood more quickly and safely with A well maintained chisel and mallet and a detail knife than with power tools like the Fordom

Yes, it puts an unfair guilt on them. They may feel obligated to keep some pieces that they really don’t want.
My sister moved a bunch of our folks stuff into her basement to hand down to her kids. Now they are going to move/downsize, her kids don’t want that old fashioned crap, and they live 100, 1,000, and 3,000 miles away to boot. So she’s getting rid of it now after having cluttered up her basement with it for over ten years.
As you say, get rid of it as soon as you can and don’t store it.
You can also do that by not texting or not looking at email for a week or two. Works every time!
Good advice to give it to them now, make it their memories not your memories..

That has been the very best thing about retirement for me. Don't know where you live, but try to find an organized group that is well-experienced. The group called Community Bible Study in this area is excellent, with multiple locations in various towns. Cannot say enough good about our C.B.S. group of 300 who meet each week. We have an opening session, then break into small groups, then a lecture, and daily home study in a printed workbook or online (there's a small tuition).
I have also heard good things about Cornerstone Bible Studies.
For the first three years of retirement, I traveled 70 miles each way every week to study with a pastor who came recommended (as a Bible-believing political conservative) at his weekly Bible study at his church.
It's important to get with a group where people participate seminar-style, asking questions and not just sitting there. Such a blessing to study the Word. Only wish I had done it in my teens.
Heck get them to move it and tell them stories!

For your hobby, don’t forget E-bay.
Good idea, but I use the two shot glass system, morning and evening. Move one day as the meds are taken. Taking the time to put the damn little things in every little section would waste half the week.
My system does keep the days of the week and when I notice that I have missed a med, it is usually not too many hours past time.
That is exactly what I said until I just sat around the house with little to do for a year.
I retired at 62 and started taking Social Security. I’m not sure I will make it to 82 which is the break even point. I have Medishare for health care.
Our Bible study does use some praise songs occasionally, but it’s not a worship service with communion; it’s basically a rev-’em-up intro to the study session that follows. The study is very seriously Biblical.

Exactly. I’ve got three or four small businesses going, the stress is way down, the creativity way up, no employees. I work my usual 80 hours, but it is almost all fun stuff. Rewarding.
Self indulge. Bought used airplane and used RV. Also spending more time as church volunteer.
