What did you do when you retired?
Getting close to the point that I may be able to retire.
Thinking about reselling,yard sales,goodwills,estates sales.
Always enjoyed junking,antiquing.
Gotta stay busy.
Who you calling Darla you mug?!! LOL
Antiques have to be marked or signed, back in the day you could say Depression Glass, that won’t work anymore.
Depression ware was so common and cheap there is no money in it but its easily dated by production techniques
I saw a pup tent Half for 35 bucks
today...cold War...1977 in a box!
Dated with makers Mark on a WWII
Pistol belt-—100 bucks!
Started our consulting business. Now that we are in our 60’s we are into putting in new joints. Hip for him, and knees for me.
We’ve got two dogs that keep us tied down. We love them so much and they give back so much. I’ll be close to 70 by the time they die so by then it’ll be too late to travel.
There is always something to do around the house. Need to replace the fence, repair the alarm system, sand and paint the window sills, repaint the trim throughout the house.....
There is no money in it,but there was 40 years ago, when you sell on Ebay, the customer has to know there is value in it.
LOL!
Manage a liquor store..........
My wife and I sold our home and bought an Airstream trailer and toured the country for 4 years. We had internet so we could keep up with FR.
Our only son got hurt in an accident and we quit traveling to provide care for him while he got better. (Thank G-D) This forced us to settle down again and buy into a condo lifestyle. The Villages, San Jose CA)_
Since then I have returned to work as a consultant (very satisfying, since no one is threatened by you) and went back to teaching (hard to find a teaching job that lasts, most have short term grants and the regular teachers are not leaving) Also took up college teaching part time. (Lots of prep and kids are dedicated — as opposed to HS kids.) Finally old age and infirmities got the better of me and so now I just surf the web and play violin and golf. Not easy to tell what day it is though.
But I trade stocks....4 days a week. Sometimes 5...depending.
I like to stay in my room a lot and grow my fingernails until they curve.
Oftentimes, I will sail the Caribbean and the coast of the dark continent pillaging unwary travelers and merchant ships. At times like these, should a lovely maiden be taken, I will kiss her lustily until she wants to marry me then I will laugh and run off.
I build robots in my spare time. I have a small army of them in a warehouse downtown. They are combat meks and they will serve me well when the zombies come.
I like to watch Netflix and chill. There is much to be said for a nice, long shit.
I sleep until the sun is warm, like eleven, twelve in the afternoon. Then I go to the Piggly Wiggly and whittle sticks by the stove. Me and the boys make up stuff and tell it to each other.
I like to teach gung fu classes to half Chinese boys over at the north shao-lin temple. I reminisce about the time the south sha-lin temple attacked my students and I in the market. I was young at the time, and was beaten. I found a new master who taught me Dragon style. I sought my revenge and was beaten again. Again, I learned Tiger style. Same result. This went on several times. Until I combined all the styles I had learned, including woman and drunken style.
It was at that time that I was victorious and had my revenge. These memories comfort me.
But mostly I watch t.v. and sit on my ass.
Coffee's good.
I can go $40 bucks.
Reselling, yard sales, goodwills, estates sales. Always enjoyed junking, antiquing. Gotta stay busy.
Add Salvation Army. Buyto fixbroken things.
Have yard sales. :)
I've always worn such a watch. It makes no difference because I seldom look at that part of the diplay. Not knowing what day of the week it is drives my daughter crazy. It makes me smile.
Buy my booksmake government smaller. ;)
I tried to get an east German 22 training conversion kit for am East German pistol that I bought for $250
Any whoo I had no use for the conversion kit but it was original issue in the box and East Germany is long gone.
I get a notification from UPS and they say the 15.4 lb package will be delivered on that day.
Just as I read the notification the doorbell rings and the UPS guy hands me a 15.4 lb package, I sign for it and say whats this to myself
I open it up and its West German 22 conversion kit For an HK G3 Machine gun worth $750 With the original sales receipt to the surplus market for 465 deutchmarks!
SCORE!
Deutchmarks mo longer exist
Sorry to hear of your sons troubles.
Many of my friends have the notion of hitting the road in the RV in retirement
Travelling light is OK, but leaves a gap in the family
