It "might be the best Star Wars movie ever."
A long time ago in a galaxy, far, far....actually, slash a lightsaber through that sentence because audiences don't have to wait long to see the next Star Wars adventure. Yes, that's right. The wait is almost over.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is nearly upon us as Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper, Breaking Bad) has the unenviable task of topping the box-office behemoth that was The Force Awakens. The fact that Johnson has already been given the responsibility to create a brand new trilogy is a very good sign, but what about the next installment of the world's most beloved saga?
As for the plot, here's what we're being told: "Having taken her first steps into the Jedi world, Rey joins Luke Skywalker on an adventure with Leia, Finn, and Poe that unlocks mysteries of the Force and secrets of the past."
While the official reviews are embargoed, a few journalists shared their spoiler-free opinions on Twitter and it's fair to say that The Last Jedi is shaping up to be an absolute triumph.
In fact, one journalist even remarked that it "might be the best Star Wars movie ever." Considering the brilliance of The Empire Strikes Back and A New Hope, that's high praise indeed.
Do you want to hear some better news?
It's also the longest film in Star Wars history. We think it's fair to say that the Force is strong with this one.
***better than The Star Wars Holiday Special.***
Or the two horrid Ewok made-for-tv movies. So saccharine I still get the desire to puke each time I remember them.
Lucky I missed the Holiday special.
The problem with these new Star Wars movies is that no one can act, particularly the villain. A good movie requires a believable villain.
Personally, I find Asian films vastly more entertaining, and I like knowing my money isn’t going to a bunch of deranged leftist assholes would love to see me dead because I don’t vote RAT.
Since when is a co-star a "disciple"? He took an acting job with a recurring role on a popular HBO show. It got him recognition, and he landed the key villain part in the biggest sci-fi franchise in history.
What a loser, right?
I'm placing my bet now--Rey gets a similar offer from Kylo Ren and/or Snoke as Luke did from Vader, but she's going to take it. Luke's going to have to pull her back in Episode IX after shunning her in Episode VIII due to his own fear of failure.
The only people that called that show and Dunham popular was the media. Holding up a degenerate and sex predator like Dunham as the “voice of a generation” shows just how sick and depraved (and deceitful) the media is. You’d think a Marine would have a bit more self-respect than to work for someone like that.
Prepare to scream like Luke did when Vader told him the truth in Empire Strikes Back. Why do you think she was more important to Luke to meet him sooner than his sister Leia, his 34 year old friend Chewbacca, etc. She’s his daughter.
Well without Alec Guinness or Harrison Ford, you have lost most of the acting talent.
Adjusted for inflation?
Compare it to the production budget of 250 million. The fact that it makes over 3 times that in just the United States means it’s profitable already before you hit the international cinema. Against A New Hope, it’s comparable when you consider inflation.
All actors should only accept roles when their world view (what is Driver’s world view?) matches up with that of their co-stars.
I can totally see that working.
They’ll use CGI, and still get a more lifelike performance than you’d get out of, say, Ben Affleck. . . .
A good movie requires a believable villain.
They were both terrible.
Unadjusted, so the numbers for the earlier films are even more impressive.
People got so mad if you called Rey a Mary Sue. If she isnt, then the term doesnt really exist.
Yes, it was done deliberately. This one is going to shadow Empire Strikes Back. On purpose.
Straming internet. I will see it in 1-2 weeks.
Are the dollar figures adjusted for inflation? And movie ticket increases?
Thats why this stuff is not accurate to compare.
