Perhaps the weather is really nice in that area.
It’s not snowing.
Lots of fires in the last few days. Too many to count for natural causes
Arson?
Some might be. Also “arcing” power lines, careless smokers, sparks from power tools, etc.
Usually brush fires get put out pretty quickly, but its been really windy, and that makes it harder.
Power lines seem to be the main culprit here in West Texas, when the winds get up they start slapping. We lost half the ranch to power lines arcing 6 years ago.
My son lives in Sierra Madre. Can someone tell me if this will be a problem for him?
California nut cases at large.
Sierra Madre is not near there.
Please ping me with any Southern California related articles. Thank you!
If you want on or off this ping list, please FReepmail me.
WoW - There’s a giant dust storm right where I live - my white mailbox is coated with a layer of ashes - probably my car too.
I’m right between two of the fires so it’s blowing right into my neighborhood from two sides!

Stay safe, everyone!!
Thanks.
Prayers for you from Santa Rosa. Stay safe!

Obviously that’s not the case now.
People are required to clear brush in much of the
State law requires property owners in fire prone communities to have 100 feet of defensible space around their homes. This includes removing all potentially fire-prone vegetation, but not all vegetation, from 30 feet immediately surrounding a property, and creating space between trees and other vegetation for an additional 70 feet around the property.
Pics I’ve seen from residences damaged by wildfires suggest compliance is not universal.
And then there’s wood roofing....
Videos showing fire in the pass with cars driving by.
I go thru this pass quite a bit and on a good day traffic is backed up and moving slow thru the pass.
500,000 cars pass each other an hour at the 405 & 101 freeway. The 405 is closed thru the pass now....!
