Families in a Washington state community have noticed an uptick in coyote sightings lately. Within a 24-hour span, the city of Snoqualmie received seven reports of coyotes in the areaincluding an attack on a 3-year-old girl while she was on her porch, according to KCPQ.
Douglas Lucas says his daughter was attacked by a coyote who came up to the front porch of their home and pounced on the child on Thursday.
It bite me, said 3-year-old Sophia about her encounter with a coyote.
The little girl was outside with her father on the front porch of their home. Lucas was up on the ladder hanging Christmas lights when the coyote came up to the house. Lucas said it was right after dark that the coyote approached.
He says within seconds the coyote pounced on Sophia, making her fall from the impact.
The coyote came from behind, knocked Sophia," said grandmother Susan Chavez. "She landed on her mouth."

Who is the “you people” to whom you speak?
Catron County, near Reserve, NM.
“I dont like the pukes at the Sierra club either,
We agree on that much.”
Coyotes are like democrats.
Get ready for the rabies shots.
Thanks everyone!
I rarely see coyotes, that’s because they’re hunted here. If you make they your prey, they become invisible, and this kind of thing doesn’t happen.
Snoqualmie is very rural - so the coyote was in it’s natural habitat. Heck - we are in the suburbs of Seattle and we have coyotes - although I’ve only seen them late at night (1 am) or early morning (5 am). And the neighbors wonder why their cats that they let outside go missing.
I wonder how much their numbers have gone up since they made trapping illegal in Washington State (that’s been perhaps 10 years or more now I suppose).
As another poster said - I think a large dog would provide a good warning.
I will say, “whatever grabbed my inside/outside cat about 2 months ago, and I warned all my Mexican neighbors that something killed my cat.(because all their dogs run loose.) Granted after keeping her isolated inside (a lot of her was her doing). Some animal loose dog, or whatever ripped her tail and skin completely skinned it to the bone. The tail was a bloody bone It broke off. She continuously makes a dash to run out and we keep stopping her. For now it’s here’s your food, water and litter box.
Exactly...Coyotes are intelligent and wily (no pun intended) animals, in areas where they're shot at there is not a problem.
They are about 60% infected with heart worms in some areas.
Here in my suburban neighborhood that was built in a former forest one of my neighbors was walking her small dog when a coyote grabbed and ran off with it. How horrifying this had to be.
Wolves in Washington and Oregon are pushing coyotes out of their old habitat in the hills and down into where people live.
Damn things have invaded all over northern California communities. The leftist governments all say the same things over and over. “They were here first. We took over their land. We have to learn to co-exist with them. Bring your cats, dogs and kids inside - don’t ever let them out.” And we put up with this horse-scat from these bastards year after year as more and more pets get eaten.
I’ve heard many coyotes at night with all their yips, barks and howls, but never heard such eerie sounds as this summer. I was camping in the Ochoco National Forest the night before the eclipse when a band of coyotes started howling in the valley below me sometime in the wee hours. Never heard such unworldly sounds in my life. Creepy, indeed.
Year round in California. Hard to believe?
Subdivision at nighttime... no cars going down the street...
Homes on my street are on 3-5 acre lots.....

Lots of space for you. Only 1 acre plus around here. In morning, nearby hunting gun shots. A few extra into coyotes not noticed.
The key to hunting them is that they don’t look up. We have the best results being on top of a cargo container and calling them in. Plus night vision.
We are lousy with coyotes in our Lilburn neighborhood. Have had therm take a run at our leashed Chihuahua a couple of times. Mr. GG2 almost had to shoot one a couple of weeks as go. They are basically a worthless nuisance animal.
We back up to 107 acres of wooded forest land owned by Ted Turner.....as valuable as it is, its not slated for development....there are some small spring fed ponds in there so wildlife abounds.....
The Community Organization called DNR yesterday and they are coming out..... too many sightings of packs around the homes with aggressive behavior towards humans...
