The only serious commitment of the GOP Senate caucus is getting rid of Trump, preferably by a forced resignation but by impeachment if necessary.
Therefore, they will not allow the passage of any legislation which runs the risk of making it look like Trump has an effective administration.
They don't care if they lose their majority - they might even prefer it.
But passing a bill that is a top Trump priority? Don't make me laugh.
Your analysis is correct, but I can't predict what will happen. It's still early Sunday morning.
The only thing that can save them from their inadequacies, will be sweeping indictments in the other party, or a major boost in economic growth. Corporate tax cuts, resultant growth and an actual boost in tax revenues projections may also save them.
Things that will doom them: More hikes in healthcare premiums, amnesty in any form, more failed investigations, more backstabbing Trump.
My guess is 20-80 against the GOP.
Let’s see if Moore wins first, and then see what Turtleman does....
Mostly con. He can’t order members of the Senate to do anything. He can do the carrot and stick thing like take away their committee assignments but then he risks losing the Senate to defections.
They need to be brave enough to let the government shut down for several days, perhaps weeks
Being the majority on a very thin margin is difficult. His best bet is to lure a few minority members over. But that’s more Rino’s to be sure.
The GOP showed their utter hate for all Americans
by NEVER sending a simple ObamaCARE/RomneyCARE repeal
to Pres. Trump (whom they also hate, hate, hate).
They kept THEMSELVES EXEMPT, however, and also kept
their pompous puffery and MSM-preening and treason INTACT.
Than, not then.
Mitch doesn’t have the power to swing it. McCain, Flake and Corker are going for the spoiler award no matter what.
Agreed.
Second, it is vital to recall this section in the Declaration:
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. (Emphasis added)
It will take some time indeed to Drain the Swamp. I doubt very much that McConnell is on the ropes. The GOP has lots of bank and think all they need to do is play the role of obstructionist, and run out the clock until they "eventually" return to power. There is history backing up this sentiment: the Country Club wing of the GOP waited in exile until Bush the groper was elected.
In the meantime, we Deplorables must realize this is a game of long ball. Dig in.
This I will will agree with: this fight is about “more than Moore”, as with the 2016 election it is about “We the People” (of Alabama in this case) vs. the Establishment Elites, aka in this case as the Republican Branch of the Uniparty, Yertle McConnell, Head Lackey.
I want nothing “more” than to see another middle finger uplifted in the faces of the DC elites. We can’t un-elect them all at once, but when we fight like this, we neutralize their power (which is what scares the bejeebers out of them).
When is this election, anyway?
I've met her and she is VERY butch.
Kyle Whitmire is an effete "columnist" there (though he's married) and he's written with more vitriol against Judge Moore than anyone, with the possible exception of John "I forgot I declared bankruptcy and I've got a gay brother" Archibald.
They hate Judge Moore and they have made it clear that they do.
Their jobs are also dependent on pleasing their editor. Those 3 papers are owned by Advance and they have laid off over 40% of their employees in the past few years and now only print 3 days a week.
So you have lesbians and leftists calling the shots and maybe a couple of people who are afraid to speak out in fear of losing their jobs.
But this is a hate campaign of the highest order.
