Malcolm Young, the rhythm guitar player and founding member of heavy metal legends AC/DC, has died, the group announced Saturday. He was 64.
Known for the powerhouse riffs and rhythm guitar that propelled the group from Sydney, Australia, to superstardom, Young had been suffering from dementia for the past three years, the Australian Associated Press reported.
He died peacefully on Saturday with his family by his bedside, the news agency reported.
Young started the band with his brother Angus Young in 1973.

Guess he’s no longer on the ‘Highway’, but has reached his rather hot destination. Too bad.

His older brother George (of Flash And The Pan fame) died just a few weeks ago. So two Young brothers dead within a month of each other. (Flash And The Pan never made it to the big time but they were one of my favorite bands are worth checking out if you are not familiar with them).
I was never a big AC/DC fan but the album "Back in Black" was of course in my collection - probably the greatest "hard rock" album of all time.

And somewhere...Keith Richards laughs, not at Malcolm Young, but at Death itself.

Awwwww..crap. He was the first guitarist I could play along with when I learned to play guitar back in the middle ages.
Thanks much for the inspiration, mate! Take care.
On a side. AC/DC is NOT heavy metal. Pure blues-based rock.
