Star Wars: The Last Jedi is poised to hit any number of benchmarks and shatter all kinds of records (mostly, the box-office kind) when its released on December 15, but its already surpassed the other entries in the franchise in at least one arealength.
At a recent press conference (via IGN), director Rian Johnson confirmed the runtime. Episode VIII clocks in at a whopping 150 minutes, which is 8 minutes longer than the previous longest-Star-Wars-movie title holder, Attack Of The Clones. The prequels set this extended-length precedentor maybe they just feel that waywhich The Force Awakens and Rogue One were only too happy to follow, since it meant more pew-pewing and rocketing around the galaxy.
The fact that Johnson is helming the longest Star Wars movie either bodes well or poorly for his planned trilogy. Well know more when The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15.
Jedi is both singular and plural. The movie title in Spanish makes it clear that it is Jedi, plural: "Los Ultimos Jedi". If there was only one it would be El Ultimo Jedi.
Papers, please?

Thanks for the multi-cultural tutelage. Now I know!
That doesn't cover it! What wilderness are we in? Gosh, just watched THE BOSS BABY with the GK's, who evidently were already familiar with it,and I noticed that they checked a number of times to see if I was paying attention!
Well, I was, and of course seeing them check on me, I figured that I'd better watch the whole thing, to be diplomatic.
Well, I never knew of this movie, but it's quite clever, and it has the longest credits that I can recall. I was waiting to go pee, because I wanted to see the date, and I finally chanced it, and sure enough, they were still going when I came back, and the date was 2017.
Don't know what to make of these monstrous credits. I guess that's what it takes these days.
“Star Wars; The Last Sequel”
Any bets on the amount of Trump bashing & Hillary worship that will be in it?
I've totally given up on Star Wars after the 2nd trilogy and this third trilogy is just too dark & convoluted to follow, not to mention being politically correct.
I'd rather go binge watch Babylon 5 in my media library and replay the old rivalries of Londo & G'Kar, Gerabaldi getting bashed in the ribs from lusting after Talia Winters in the elevator, or the look of surprise on G'Kars face when Lyta told him that she has no threshold for pain or pleasure :-)
I just hope they don’t have any more CGI reincarnations of dead actors. That was just creepy in the last movie, especially zombie Carrie Fisher.
New movies aren’t this long because it’s what we want.
They are this long because of Asian ticket sales. Throughout asia people won’t go see a movie if it’s not at least 2.5 hours long. Many action flicks are 3 hours and some tickle 4 hours.
they just won’t go unless they feel it’s a value - and a long movie gives them that value.
Asia is driving all of our movie decisions now. Wait’ll you see the pro-communist themes that are necessary to sell a movie in China.
The thought of "we ain't seen nuthin' yet" is kind of scary there...I already thought "Molester-wood" was full blown commie.
Now that China requires US movies to contain anti-capitalist, pro-china messages, hollywood is mostly done.
Transformers Michael Bay is bad at that game. But some, like Joss Whedon are good at it. The writing is sublime.
did you know that the Avengers movies are longer in China, and feature scenes of an all-chinese celebrity cast who are actually the Avengers bosses ?
Do you remember the latest Mission Impossible “Rogue Nation” had that chinese woman in the credits but she was only on screen for literally 20 seconds with no speaking part ? Thats China. She got second billing. Doesn’t even speak english.
Dr Strange ? The plot was actually changed to make the action occur in China.
These movies will be getting worse. Hollywood sees a profit doubling if the movie shows in China, and the Chinese Communist Party knows that - so they require a party message in the movies and the producers and directors are happy to double their money by capitulating. Which is treason as far as I’m concerned.
That still looks like a Star Wars knockoff (original Battlestar Galactica or Italy’s SW ripoff (StarCrash?)).
Yeah, dead.
It must be the new "in" movie length. Blade Runner 2049 was exactly that long. And boring.
Has the line/encampment at the theater started yet?
Is it okay to wear Star Wars Chtistmas costumes before Thanksgiving, yet?

Computer animated films pad out the run time to feature length by tsking on 10 minutes of credits.
***I blame the Ewoks.**
Especially those two horrid Ewok made-for-TV movies.
Then there is a disaster of some Christmas TV special from thirty five years ago.
You can find that Star Wars XMAS special on YouTube. I tried to watch it and it was terrible. Something about trying to get Chewie home to his family for XMAS. I am guessing there was some contract that compelled the cast to have to do this thing, but they are all in it.
