I got it wrong, because like so many puzzles, our minds move too quickly and make assumptions which do not exist - and do not look at very small, but important details. In this case, with the pathways leading to each cup.
The width of the pipes have nothing to do with the correct answer.
It will, in the physical world depend on the diameter of the two tubes at the right angle, and the speed the coffee is poured. Pour slow enough, with all the joints clean and at right angles (so the there is an air path out of the lower lower tube), and the coffee will flow as described.
Pour it quick enough, and it will trap air and stall out. But the trapped air will bubble through the trapping tubes eventually, if the tubes are big enough not to trap the bubbles with a meniscus effect.
Yes, far as I can see it’s gotta be #4. ##9 and 7 have plugs; both boxes from which #5 would be filled have to be filled to the top, leaving #4 as the quickest to fill.
You need to be a little more obvious ma’am.
As I think about it, why do they do Friday dump? There is no need as the Repubs would never do anything about any of it. Dump it on Monday morn and watch the Repubs cower all week.

You are missing something. The outlet into #9 is also blocked.
The only cup without a blocked path for the coffee is #5, which has to be the the correct answer -- did you get the question right on the P.E. exam?
If this is considered a brain teaser the world is doomed.

Thanks. I noticed that shortly after my post. I don’t know if I got the right answer on the exam. I passed the exam, so it wasn’t all that important to know. LOL.
