Montgomery County Sheriff’s officials said the drugs were found Wednesday while drug task force agents were executing a search warrant at a home on Shady Grove Road.

They said 6.37 pounds of LSD were confiscated, along with components used to make the drug.

It sounds like they are measuring the LSD and the delivery media, aka the paper.

I’d say Hunter Thompson is rolling in his grave but I can’t. They fired him out of a cannon.

Ergot fungus primarily of rye

Originally used as a sort of petocin by midwives a thousand years ago and studied academically for its unusual properties since the 1500s

Albert Hoffman of Sandoz synthesized lysergic acid dyethlamide-25 in the 1930s I think in Basel Switzerland a town ironically I know fairly well

Here is more on the subject well written and concise

Also this if this guy does not have a MS or PhD in Chemistry it is very likely he is a middleman. It requires extensive knowledge and a very expensive laboratory to produce LSD. I have heard at any given time there is less than 1 dozen people producing LSD in the US.

Memory of the past. orked summer job at AK Salz Tannery in Santa Cruz. The older guys showed me 55 gallon drums from Sandoz ( Germany) and said that was how Sandoz used to ship LSD to America. Those guys would know, they were the first acid heads and said the Tannery sometimes was a way station. I can't confirm this, just an old story

Reminds me of high altitude training in the Air Force. Put you in an altitude chamber, pump it down to equivalent of 30,000 feet, have you take off your oxygen mask, then write something on a clipboard. What you're back to normal pressure and read it, you wonder how you wrote such gibberish. Really brings home to you that your brain isn't working well under those conditions.

Ken Keasey and The Merry Pranksters were the real deal. Sometime after the Grateful Dead achieved success Leary tried shaking them down to the tune of about $80,000 claiming that because he, Leary had ‘’discovered’’ LSD and encouraged others to ‘’tune in, turn on and drop out’’ the Dead owed him. They laughed him off.

Try diabetics in a state of hypoglycemia. Once your blood glucose gets below the 40-50 range things start going really bad for brain function. It's no fun, trust me.

The Province of British Colombia was interested in curing alcoholism with LSD. They funded Hollywood Hospital near Vancouver, a hospital for alcoholics except for one wing where people could volunteer for rather expensive acid trips administered by psychiatrists. NASA people, Hollywood people, found that it did boost creativity by opening up the imagination. A friend in NY asked his shrink about it, the shrink said go ahead and try. So he went and had modestly OK results. Nothing very dramatic.

“Hollywood” because the grounds were covered with holly trees. I understand it’s all been torn down and replaced with a shopping center.

During WW2 the Germans thought LSD could be used as a truth serum.

If you want to know what it’s like to take six pounds of acid, try watching the Monkees’ movie, “Head”.
