Apparently the murderer passed a “background check” and bought the rifle at a San Antonio retailer in 2016. This despite the fact that he had disqualifiers of domestic violence conviction and a dishonorable discharge.
And it turns out that the killer was himself killed by an armed citizen, shot in a gap in his body armor, something the anti gunners will gloss over.
Just read that he was killed by his own hand...so are we looking for two different bullets?
It aS just reported on F&F that it’s been determined to be a self inflicted gun shot. But he intended to get away and cause more damage until the two good guys went after him.

Yes, an Academy store in San Antonio according to CNN (Kelley’s favorite news outlet according to his Facebook page).

It appears that he lied on his Form 4473, and that the discrepancy was missed.
He was imprisoned for a year by the Air Force. That would seem to disqualify him. That, and a dishonorable discharge wouldn’t normally result from any small crime. We are led to believe that he must have assaulted his first wife and child something terrible.
I was wondering the same thing. However, maybe DOD offenses are not included in the background check? But, dishonorable discharges show up on background checks and thus disqualify one from possessing firearms, so why wouldn’t DOD offenses be included, as well?
I just don’t know.
WHAT? No.
NO soft body armor can stop ANY rifle round, not even the 111-year-old .30-06 rifle round. If he was shot in the neck with a rifle, it would not matter if he was wearing soft armor there or not.
And I've not seen any reports that he was wearing armor plates. Those only cover vital organs, anyway.
