On Saturday, the mad Swedes at Koenigsegg did something truly remarkable: in an Agera RS, a factory driver achieved an average speed of 277.9 mph during two runs on Nevadas Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump. This may make the Agera RS the worlds fastest street legal production car. Now you can see what those runs looked like from the drivers perspective.
The nice folks at Racelogic sent us the video recorded by the VBOX HD2 during the two runs, and if youve ever been curious what approaching 290 mph looks like from the cockpit, youre about to find out.
The video shows both runs: one with a top speed of about 272 mph, the other way up there at 284 mph. The two speeds were averaged together to get the official time. Throughout the day, the max speed seems to have been 284.3 mph.
Its almost terrifying. Even with the straight road and presumably an even grade, I cant even imagine how close you could come to disaster at that velocity. At the same time, Im extremely jealous of the pure, unfiltered speed driver Niklas Lilja must have felt. It must have been scary and liberating at the same time.

I still cannot figure how the Bugatti Chiron which is significantly more powerful and with more torque than the Dodge Demon is beat by it from 0-60 and on the drag strip.
Is it the gear box ratio, weight difference?
and then it hits a turtle crossing the road...
Does the Demon have launch control?
Meep Meep
Yeah. So, you look down at the speedo and say, "Hmm, 225, guess I'd better shift up and accelerate." That's one way of knowing you're in a fast car. And that you're crazy.
Divided 4 lane. Other traffic was one lane each way on the other side. Looks like they shut down the other side once they got up to speed.
Those Jackalopes in Nevada just come out of nowhere.
Shout out to the civil engineers and highway designers that made that flat out spot possible.
Can I get a group hug?
Damn that was fast. My Mustang would have shaken itself apart at 130
I once drove about 15 miles at 140 between Crestview, Florida and Pensacola. I was doing around 75 on I-10 when a Porsche passed me.
I decided that this was my chance to drive fast so I hung around a quarter mile behind the Porsche for a few miles at maybe 85. I guess he got tired of my following him and sped up to what I later determined was 140.
I floored the old F-250 with a 460. I had done several things to improve it’s performance but it was still not a dragster. On the other hand, flat out running at 6000rpm seem to be it’s forte.
I stayed with the Porsche for maybe 15 miles then decided to slow down. About the same time, I noticed the temp gauge was all the way over to hot. Good thing I slowed down when I did although the old pickup was actually running smooth as silk.
It has a dedicated design for the launch, pretty sure launch control is included with the special suspensions which use the acceleration to weigh/hug the car down on the road.
The fastest I have ever upshifted was 130 mph.
Watched both runs.... I’ve been in some quick cars and mbikes doing some speeds that I can now look back at as being off the charts stupid.... but that was quite a ride!
280mph. No big deal.I just put it on the white lines and watched them become one line. Piece of cake. Then I woke up in a cold sweat.
They oughta put some of those cameras in drugrunnerr cars on I-75
and 95 in Florida OR just any car in Miami!
“Hennessey says they need a longer run next time but are wary of the problems of a public road.”
Bonneville Salt Flats.
I have been about 150 in a car and about the same on a bike.
