I am very positive, and if Trump were not president, I'd be livid...I should not be surprised, but still I am.
I have an Anthem $11,500 deductible policy for my family of 4. It is going up Jan 1 from $514 to $605, or roughly 20%.
I am pissed, of course.
I hope this thread drives good discussion.
I believe under Trump in 2018 we'll see some improvement and competition...am I correct that the increases are due to profit shortfalls the obama-partnering healthcare execs are hedging and covering their losses?
Ant thoughts out there from those more plugged in this field than I?
Thank You John McCain for blocking the Obamacare repeal.
My wife and I have Molina and they want over 100% premium increase next year.
My wife and I are almost 64. Health insurance free since 1/1/2014 (the day Obamacare went into effect). We’ve saved close to $50,000 in after tax dollars on health care premiums.
BTW, three days ago my son in law had a mountain biking accident and broke his collar bone. He had just taken a golden parachute from his job and had not bothered to re-insure. When the emergency room found out he was not insured, they gave him a 73% discount. Total bill - $283.
I have a policy for my family of 4 through BCBS of NC. I have had this grandfathered HSA policy for years. This year (2017), the premium is $1241 a month, with a $5450 deductible per year. They decided that I cannot have this great deal anymore, and I just got my rates for 2018. The new ACA approved policy that they moved me to has a $2181 per month premium, with a $13,300 deductible! $40,000 a year! This is the honest truth.
Not much change for me over this year.
My family policy premiums went from $19,000 a year to almost $30,000 in the several years after Obamacare was passed. My firm then cut coverage and increased deductibles so it dropped back down to about $24,000 but it is increasing again.
My family has this.
It has worked out real well for us.

Classic program for family of 5: $495/mo
Funny, I was just looking at Health Insurance prices, my plan was cancelled years ago and I have been paying the Fine instead. All I really want or need is Catastrophic Care plan with a High Deductible and minimal payment.
Believe it or not, When you Actually PAY for your Own Doctor Visits without insurance, it is remarkably cheap, about 1/4 the price.
Unfortunately with my income I am looking at $20,000 annual Cost for the 2 of us before receiving any “Insured Care”. So it looks like I pay the fine again this year.
It seems my only way out is to QUIT WORKING, Sell my Business and Retire Early and just Stop Paying in to the System entirely. If I get my Income below $40,000 a Bronze Plan is $2 per month. If I get it down to $20,000 a Silver Plan is $2 per month.

Everything the libs touch, they totally destroy...everything.
That includes the best healthcare system in the world.
They are truly the Borg of this century.
Somewhere down the road, and soon, the healthcare issue has to come to a head.
It just cannot go on like it is.....it’s unsustainable.
Is that per month or pay period?
Is that per month or pay period?
...
Self-employed so per month
I have BCBS tx and my premium is about $100 dollars less than yours . Thats just for me . I just got a letter saying things will change after the new year . I assume Ill be paying more .
Used to be able to blame 0bamascam on the Democrats but now the lying lazy ass Republicans are the blame
When I was young, my parents paid the doctor $5, then $10 for an office visit. No insurance for office visits, hospitalization, or drugs.
It was affordable because there was no middle man, or gov’t markup or regulation interference. It was a private transaction.
Gov’t and gov’t subsidized insurance agencies created the problem so they could create their solution, which ALWAYS screws the American People.
Our Premiums only went up $87, from $1979 to $2066 as of January 2018, whoopee! I was shocked it was so low. #;^O
That’s for two Adults, no Kids and does include Dental and Vision which cost us $131. Such a deal...
We are only up about 120% since December of 2013.
I’m still waiting for my Obama promised $2,500 Check though. That would help take care of Doctor / Prescription Copays.
Mine went up again I pay 190.00 every two weeks for a family of four and I must pay the 20% that the insurance does not cover.

Sometimes a very friendly and wise Grandma or Grandpa already on Medicare can get big money for some part time work.
Just enough money to get a nice subsidy from Uncle Sam for members of your household.
I think subsidies are based on adjusted gross income, so IRA/401-Ks/HSAs can come in handy.
“$11,500 deductible”
That’s JUNK “insurance”.
That amount is in the ballpark of what Medicare pays for a hospitalization.
I started at a new company in June. I pay $30 month, no deductibles, standard copay for a family of four. I’m blessed with this. It’s saving our family about $12k per year in premiums alone.
