Video at link and it's 11:06 minutes long. This vlogger was pretty good in past predictions. He was generally first to discuss the last hurricane when it was still a tropical storm. In this video, he discusses wind patterns and a tropical disturbance that may become a hurricane and if so, that it will be named Phillipe. He notes that the details surrounding the formation and projected track of the disturbance are strikingly similar to the formation of hurricane Sandy. He notes that there is currently only a 40% chance that the disturbance will become a storm.
He refers to Ventusky and I have to say, I find it very intersting because you can adjust the features you want to examine:

Sandy was NOT a hurricane.
According to this from the NWS, it was an extra-tropical storm when it made landfall. Nevertheless, very destructive surge and flooding.
The reason why I say it is scientifically debatable that it was still a hurricane at landfall was that there is a very good case to be made it was still warm core. Certainly, it was undergoing extratropical transition but IMO it wasn't fully there. The NHC transitioned it quicker...likely due to political considerations, given their forecasts.
It was still a hurricane at some point & time in its existence. Even they labeled it as such.
WTF - over??
“Tropical cyclone activity not expected during the next 48 hours”
Joe Bastardi at weatherbell analytics is talking about this too.
It was till about 120 minutes before it came ashore at Barnegat Light. At that time it was no longer tropical but that is an unimportant difference. It had 80mph winds and was 1100 miles in width.
Sandy’s eye came right over us
Power out for a day but I have a backup Generac that ran the 24 hours
Neither was Agnes when she laid waste up north in ‘72. Google pics of that sometime if you get a chance.
THOSE babies are nice to have!
