The scariest thing this Halloween for New York moms isnt zombies or ghouls its politically incorrect costumes.
An article on raceconscious.org by Sachi Feris has been making the rounds on mommy Facebook groups. Feris writes that her 5-year-old daughter declared she wanted to be Polynesian Disney character Moana, which she worried would be cultural appropriation.
Her daughters other choice: Scandinavian Queen Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen.
I had some reservations regarding both costume choices about cultural appropriation and the power/privilege carried by Whiteness, and about Whiteness and standards of beauty, she wrote.
Feris went on to describe a series of conversations with her daughter, particularly focusing on the ethics of dressing as Moana, who as a teen sets out on a treacherous sea journey to save her familys island from famine and destruction and succeeds.
In the end, Feriss daughter decided to dress as Elsa though Feris was concerned it might teach her short-haired brunette daughter that one must be white, blue-eyed and have long flaxen hair to be a beautiful princess.
But she nixed the Moana costume for Mickey Mouse, because, as Ferris wrote, we dont have to worry about making fun of anyone or dressing up as a culture different from our own because Mickey Mouse is a pretend mouse!
One thing is for sure, our discussions around appropriate and inappropriate Halloween costumes will continue, concluded Feris.

“cultural appropriation”
I thought liberals said not to stereotype or label, yet, that very phrase does exactly that.
When someone accuses you of “cultural appropriation” you should say “you’re welcome”
I’ll bet less than 1% of the population thinks like this, and they’re paid to write stupid articles about fake outrage.
Being a Libturd means having no sense of proportion.
There’s only one appropriate response to such nonsense.
“Cultural Appropriation is not a thing. Piss off.”
Then you are a mush-headed liberal and are spreading your Stupid germs to your children.
Scary will be when she’s 16 and wants to dress as a slutty nurse. Of course this mom probably won’t have an issue with that.
That costume is not Polynesian.
The real thing was the grass skirt and ... nothing else.
The rest came from the western traders and missionaries (trying to teach the natives modesty), and Disney.
Is it just me, or is it that it seems that it’s only white liberals that get upset about cultural appropriation?
Liberals suck the fun out of everything.
It seems all they do is worry.
Always something new to worry about.
With all the tension caused by continuously worrying about every little word, thought, action or inaction it’s a wonder they don’t commit suicide before they are able to breed new little liberals who will spend their lives worrying about every little thing.
I’ll spare us going around as Maui as I don’t do grass outfits too well.
Obama mask once again!
Hence the superiority of the 1984 version of "Mutiny On The Bounty".

“Using flush toilets is cultural appropriation (white culture)”
Bring back Al Jolson and minstrel shows.
The problem is not that she is ignorant about her prejudice. She has been schooled about being prejudiced to such an extent that she sees any variation from her own narrow life as an example of her prejudices. The reality is her only prejudices are those she has learned from those people who are forcing their own prejudices upon her. She lacks the self esteem to stand up for herself and her child.
“Using flush toilets is cultural appropriation (white culture)”
Hell, the wheel and fire is cultural appropriation.
“Make the kid go as a vampire, ghoul, zombie, skeleton, Frankensteins monster or something. How is some princess scary?”
Or the scariest of all...as a democrat!
