Actress Reese Witherspoon has revealed that she was sexually assaulted by a director when she was 16 years old, the latest in a series of claims about abuse in the film industry.
“This has been a really hard week for women in Hollywood, for women all over the world, and a lot of situations and a lot of industries are forced to remember and relive a lot of ugly truths,” Witherspoon said at an event in Beverley Hills this week.
“I have my own experiences that have come back to me very vividly and I find it really hard to sleep, hard to think, hard to communicate a lot of the feelings that I’ve been having about anxiety, honestly, the guilt for not speaking up earlier.”

The Academy Award-winning actress went on to claim that the incident was just one of a number of times she had been sexually abused throughout her career. “I wish that I could tell you that was an isolated incident in my career, but sadly it wasn’t,” she said. “I’ve had multiple experiences of harassment and sexual assault and I don’t speak about them very often.

I seriously, seriously love your proposal. Won’t happen, but I still love the idea of making such an announcement. And when adherents of the 1st amendment rightly cry “Foul”, lead them gently to the Left’s outrageous attacks on liberty.
What's truly sad, is that Witherspoon has knowledge of only one industry, and yet she disparages others industries here.
So even when she comes clean, she still runs cover for the industry that abused her on a number of occasions.
By inference, she claims her industry is no worse than any other.

Oh there’s the whole #metoo now on social media for those affected by harrassment, assault, etc. I refuse to use it. I’ll wait for the hashtag for those of us who knocked the crap out of someone who tried it on us.

If, as you say, she was 16 when the movie came out she was likely 15 when it was in production.
More likely the assault occurred with one of her projects released in ‘93, I think.
This is the danger of not naming names, Reese. A guessing game implicates the innocent.

That’s called prostitution, and in this case child prostitution by parents. That should result in at least 20 years in prison.
To understand Hollywood all you have to do is note that even now that all these women are supposedly telling their stories, none of them are naming names.
Amazing how much comes out of the woodwork now.
