It cuts both ways. If you kill someone in self defense, you could still get prosecuted, and it could have been a good shoot. Things get murky with civilian shoots, and prosecutors make bad calls. An instant death penalty might work against you.
Once a cop undergoes a background check, gets trained, and someone kills him while on duty, it is much less murky than a civilian shoot.
I work in an area where i am a target. DCMA is a congress mandated Federal organization created to investigate fraud. I ensure the warfighter, and NASA get what the taxpayer is paying for. By law, I am unarmed.
I uncover fraud on the order of tens to hundreds of millions of dollars. What do you think keeps me and my coworkers safe? Goodwill? Happy thoughts? In war zones we are armed and travel with an armed contingent. Overseas we work on base. Stateside we work behind armed guards.
Daily, I investigate materials, engineering materials, workmanship
, drawings and the final product. Without any protection; there is no way to ensure that what we do;remains unbiased.
If you dont like it; tough. Congress and the President have spoken, it is the Law.
I am sure you and DCMA do a great service to our nation, espc. regarding contractor fraud etc.
You chose what you do for a living. By your own words you are provided all kinds of protection- what’s your point?
Do you need a law that makes killing you more important than killing me? Really? Looks to me like you have all the support and protection you need.
I happen to be a rather well qualified veteran. You think some cop has more skills and training based on some POST course and is more “reliable” based on an ENTNAC or something? Funny shit there. You don’t know what you don’t know friend.
My wife has no credentials and has as great a right to (protection under than law) life as any other person, including a head of state. That is the American expectation.

Really?
I guess you’ve never heard of “hate crimes”.
That silly “equal” thing died years ago.
.
No, still is, that’s just PC BS and you know it.
Where do we stick our guidon in the ground and choose to stand? I know where soundly on the word’s of the DOI and US constitution.
Maybe you were not aware of this, but it is illegal to kill you, too. Yes, as odd as it may seem, murder is indeed illegal in all 50 states.
If someone kills you, me, or anyone - it is .... wait for it .... murder. And it carries with it a penalty. So, what exactly is your problem?
But you agree with the call for a law that makes it what “more illegal” to kill a LEO? And you think I’m
a bit illogical?
Okay. Maybe this conversation has run it’s course. Good night .
Best;
