My two sons left for Marine Corp basic training today

Posted on 10/10/2017 9:07:33 PM PDT by Romans Nine

Today years of home schooling and teaching honor, duty and love for country came to fruition. My two oldest sons Marshall (19) and Mitchell (18) left for MCRD San Diego. These are two fine young Christian men who have never gave their mother or I any real trouble or grief. They have never so much as back talked us. It was a proud moment for us as we watched them take the oath to protect the Constitution of the United States. Neither of them were looking for a career they just wanted to do what they felt was a duty to this still great Republc we are blessed to live in. The oldest has worked for me for several years as a heavy equipment mechanic and the younger as a machinist for a year. Both finished homeschooling at 17. They wanted to go infantry and held out to get that before signing.

My prayer is that they would fulfill their duty as given in Colossians 3:17 to do everything as unto the Lord.

God bless them both, and may He bring them home to you safe when their device is eventually over. The training and discipline will make them even finer individuals. You should be very proud.

Congratulations! I know the feeling from personal experience, and I hope you are (justifiably) proud of having raised your children so successfully.

Semper Fi!

I thought I would share our joy with the other patriotic FReepers on here. Sure was a fun day watching many fine young men and women commit to service to our country.

Good job raising good young men, and congratulations.
I am retired USAF myself. In December my son heads to Lackland AFB, TX, for Air Force Officer Training School, then off to undergraduate pilot training. He wants to fly either C-130J, C-5B, C-17, C-21, or KC-10. I hope he does well too, since the Air Force is 1,500 pilots short. At first, he wanted to be a nuclear weapons maintenance officer, but decided he would rather be a pilot.

Neither of my sons showed any interest in the military, but I am pleased as all get out that they are two of the hardest working rednecks I've ever seen.

I can feel your righteous pride all the way over here, Mark.

Congratulations

Congrats to you and your boys! My son just enlisted in the USMC yesterday and ships in July. Hard to believe how fast our kids grow up.

My Son

© Theresa Kackley

He stands tall
He stands proud
In a foreign country
Among a foreign crowd

He leaves his family
He leaves his home
To fight for our rights
A new land he'll roam

He agrees to sacrifice
For his Country and God
All that he knows
With barely a nod

He withstands the heat
Death and despair
So we may carry on
With little a care

His days are long
His responsibilities many
But when asked what he needs
He says "I don't need any"

To hear his voice
To see his face
Any time
Any place

These are times
I treasure most
Before he has
To return to his post

The quick hello
That all-knowing smile
This man before me
Going the extra mile

Counting the days
Until his return
Each and every hour
I wish to burn

My Love for him
From the very start
Filled every depth
Of my heart

He's one of the best
And second to none
He is a Marine
HE IS MY SON

Not all of what we see from the media about our military forces is true. Our military forces have ways of dealing well enough with social problems handed to them by anti-defense, anti-American civilians.

Thank God we still have Marines! as someone else once reportedly said. I thank God we still have Christians in our secular State in need of salt, and light.

I have had this same experience. I know how you are feeling. I shed tears of both pride and worry.

May your sons continue to be the grateful, patriotic men that you raised. Mine did.

I guess they passed the physical. They could put their head in a jar.
